The Ideas

THE SWORD

THE SWORD is a powerful weapon used to slice your foes, but you must be close to the enemy to use it.

First place down your Foe.

After, make it more intimidating, this can be changing the skin or adding props to the Foe.

I am absolutely terrified.

After that, place down your sword, now for the sake of this guide I will just put a flag, make it have no collision, no shadow, and tint it black. Make them all the “sword” props be invisible at game start.

Oh, and size it down to where your gim can realistically hold it.

Copy the flag or the sword three times to animate it slashing. Remember if you added more props to make the sword more realistic this will take more time for the animation. You could also use an emoji F.Y.I.

Rotate the “Swords” like so.

Your boss is probably very confused at you during this stage.

Now lets make the button delay (WARNING: WIRE REPEATERS. I know I know I know but its so much less complicated)

Place a button, and wire it to a WIRE REPEATER.

Make the wire repeater turn off the button, and make the wire repeater wire to a another wire repeater, having a 3 second delay, which activates the button.

Wire the button the a new 0.1 second delay wire repeater, that makes the first prop visible.

After, make a new wire repeater with also a 0.1 second delay, make it so that when the first prop is made visible, send a signal to this new wire repeater, the new wire repeater will then hide the first prop, and make the second prop be made visible.

Repeat this process to all props.

It should look something like this.

But there’s still a problem, the last prop stays visible, well here’s how to fix that.
Add one last wire repeater with also a 0.1 second delay that when the prop is made visible, make it invisible.

Finally, shove all the props together!

Now you have a sword slashing animation! But Aubec7, it doesn’t do any damage! Well thats when even more sentries come into play…

Make this sentry into any skin you want, make it 0.5 size, team 1 instead of team sentry so it attacks the sentry, make it have 9999999 health, not active on game start, have a quantum portal common (or any other gadget), Max Aim and Medium fire speed.

Make it so that when the 2nd prop is made visible, activate the ally sentry, and when the last prop is made invisible, deactivate sentry

Stuff the props over the ally sentry, and make the button under the boss, and make the button invisible, and you have a WORKING SWORD ANIMATION THAT DOES DAMAGE TO BOSSES!!!

THE CANNON

THE CANNON is a long delay, high damage, high risk machine that projects a giant cannon ball to a Foe.

First, make your cannon, then get out a basketball and tint it back, make sure collision is off (and no shadow).

Then, place your Foe, and copy the ball how many times you want that arches to the Foe from the cannon. (Make sure the balls are invisible at game start)

Afterwards, place a button (with 5 second to press), and wire it to a wire repeater with a 0.2 second delay.

Wire the first wire repeater to the first ball to make it visible, then make another wire repeater with the same 0.2 second delay, and wire the first ball to the wire repeater so that whenever the first ball is made visible, send a signal to the second wire repeater. Then wire the second wire repeater to the second ball, to make it visible.

Repeat this process until it makes a fluid animation.

Then, we need an ally sentry, look on THE SWORD to see how to make it.

Then, wire it so that it when the second to last prop is made visible, activate ally sentry, and when last prop is made hidden, deactivate ally sentry

And there it is! A fully functional animation for a cannon that does damage!

THE LASER

THE LASER is a powerful, 3 second button press, quick laser bolt to do a whopping amount of damage in a short taser of time.

First, make your laser with a laser that has no starting point, no laser tracks, and not active at game start. Make your foe in the line of the laser. Put a button below the laser with a 3 second delay.

Then, wire the button to the laser to activate it, also wire the button to a 0.5 second delay trigger (the trigger cant be seen and can be activated by walking over) make the trigger transmit to deactivate the laser.

Use the ally sentry (go to THE SWORD for more info on that). Make it be activated by pressing the button and make it also be turned off by the trigger using the same transmit message, then slap it underneath the Foe

And there you go, a functional and animated laser!

Maybe show how it works with a gif?
Also should this be wikified?

OK, I’ll do that one day, when I have motivation .

@SlimExtraterrestrial could you make this a wiki
never mind, hth got it.

I did then realized my mistake o.O

I think they were responding to the gif part, not the wiki part. Then I’d happily make it a wiki!

I’d rather wait for @Aubec7 to confirm he wants this to be a wiki.

this is lowkey a tuff guide, 10/10

I have one question, when you have the mini allied sentry appear, attack, and disappear, is it visible to the players in game? What about using a damage dealer (I’m not sure if that’s seasonal or if that works on sentries)?

One suggestion, instead of using a quantum portal for the laser, you could use a legendary snowballer on maximum fire rate to do passive damage (as I would imagine a laser would do) until it is turned off or shuts down. For that, you could maybe force the laser to shut off around the time the sentry has to reload to simulate a cooldown time.

Overall, great idea (and thanks for the link)!

Damages don’t work on sentries. If only we still had sentry interactions (#bbsi)

Oh, thanks for telling me.

what does bbsi mean? bring back sentry interactions? I’ve never heard of that :sob:

Yes, it is visible to players, but you can put it underneath the boss, like under the layer of the boss so the players can’t see It.

That is a good suggestion, I haven’t thought about it that way.

Also,

I made a new way of damage. Instead of making an ally sentry do damage, just make a counter count up whenever a “Non-gadget way to deal damage to a boss” is activated, and once a target from the counter is hit, deactivate the boss.

Seriously? It started in like October 2023, you woulda still been there. Oh well, now you know. If you wanna understand it better, read up:
Ok actually I couldn’t find the post I was looking for but here’s another good one that’ll teach you the gist of sentry interactions and why we want them back:

Couldn’t you just use channels instead of wire repeaters to make the animation way less cluttered and memory-heavy?

You need it to be delayed though, and you can’t make channels delay, only devices like wire repeaters and triggers can delay actions. If there was no delay, then it would go from start to finish pretty much instantly and nobody would know what just happened.

Didn’t consider the delay. I think triggers would still be better than repeaters though [1] and the wires might also be unnecessary.

  1. which seem to be universally despised ↩︎

We’re not talking about repeaters though, but wire repeaters. Triggers still work, of course. Two different devices, and yes, wire repeaters are much better and repeaters are completely useless.

mb I never use either one so I didn’t know the difference :skull: I just hate all the clutter wires make
