Music in GKC, possible? (partially solved)

I’d like to point out that while a lot of speculation is being done here, there isn’t a lot of testing (take the [Detailed] True Random Generation | Theory topic for example [1]) being done, which makes it hard to judge whether or not this topic is useful. I think that if people start to actually test this, then Inky should keep it open. Otherwise, it should probably be closed or maybe set a slow mode to encourage people to contribute with their responses.

Additionally, I think the clay institute tag should be removed. It is more than possible, we have trigger delays and repeater intervals.

Clarification

Slim, I read the first post. I intended to answer Fleet’s question, not the actual discussion. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

  1. I mean that they were doing a lot of testing, reread this and it sounded weird ↩︎

Alright. This topic won’t be closed, but I turned this into a wiki to post one of the solutions and will be removing the clay institute tag due to how simple the guide was.

Ok I’m confused so let’s slow down and try to put all of these different tangents together. Firstly I don’t get the point of making this a wiki since this is in devices after all. Also why was this moved from clay institute? There was no reason to move this. Finally didn’t hth put this in the topic that “Resolved” this? People already know about this topic so there’s no point in listing it there.

Turning this topic into a wiki allows for any new solutions to be quickly documented in #1.
This was moved from clay-institute as the guide demonstrating how a sound system could be implemented was very simple (2/10) with not much complexity about further details.
@Little_Green_Duck has made a valid argument for there being more ideas besides the sentry method in the piano guide, so the research isn’t resolved.

Wow has my research topic really caused such a high amount of research? @Godspawnking i do not understand what you mean

Not really. New people on the forums just have more ideas

You know what I mean by “new”.

It’s not you this topic was first after all

Lol Ig @Turtle was just using ur topic cause it is quite detailed and interesting.

GLOWINGS BACK!

(shoot I’m getting off topic)

Alright, lets collect our thoughts. So far we have:
Sentry Noises
triggers
vending machine
questioner (this might not work as this requires player interaction)

inky is right about this.
so questionear and button are not gonna work.
checkpoint can be triggered by wires right??

They can be set as the active checkpoint, if that’s what you’re asking.

But does the sound happen if I use wires.

I don’t know, I never play with sound.
I’d assume so.

I tested this (that’s why I asked Inky to keep it open, since I’d proved it works) and vending machines and checkpoints both make noise when you activate/attempt a purchase indirectly through wires.

BREAKTHROUGH: I managed to create a system that plays a constant sound using checkpoints! There’s still a bit of unwanted noise (you can hear a kind of popping noise while it plays) but there’s definitely an audible, proper note, not just sound. The next step is to try and make it go faster to counteract the popping a bit and then work out the best speeds for different notes.
This could take a while.

That’s great!
Just wondering, because of the popping noise, did anybody consider vending machines? I think you could use the attached guide to keep on playing the sound, but I’m not fully sure. Just an attempt to not have the popping sound.

We should construct a scale first.

This is what I have so far.

A A#/B♭ B C C#/D♭ D E F F#/G♭ G G#/A♭
Damage boost Checkpoint Vending Machine

Vending machines have a problem too, when you stop the sound it rings for a second before stopping.

Also, the sound is quite glary and unpleasant when you play it as a note, and is really loud. Thats_Gimpossible is right about the continuation issue.

Ok, didn’t know! I like the idea of a scale, though. I’m gonna stop replying because I don’t know much about this.

For gadget sounds, there’s the sound when fired, and when hitting something or reaching the end of range. For gadget sounds, it should be hitting point blank at a target, so the sounds are together and not separated.

So far, I’ve eliminated the PML since it sounds kind of bad music wise. Snowball launcher sounds like some kind of drums.

I think autocorrect got you here.
What were you saying? PML?
