This guide mainly talks about one platformer jump that I think is quite interesting. If you were looking for the Platformer Jump Wiki, then best look at VoidFluffy’s wiki on platformer jumps. Otherwise, continue reading.
The Jump Itself
I found an interesting jump (only possible in platformer, ofc) and thought it would be nice to talk about this!
So, all you need is a sentry. That’s it. The only other thing you need to do is to turn on fragility (by setting the health mode to fragility). Once you set the sentry down, give it a good gadget (preferably a P.M.L.), start the game, and get hit by him.
Don't know what fragility is?
Fragility is a form of HP, but it isn’t really HP. When someone takes damage, the get knocked back and their fragility (which–in this case–is labeled directly under the player and their name tag) increases. As your fragility gets higher, you’ll be knocked back more when you take damage.
If you want it equation-style:
damage = knockback and more fragility = more knockback when damaged
If you do know what fragility is, or you’ve read the previous drop-down, you can piece together that you’re gonna get knocked back. Now, the perfect thing about this is we can still use our double jump, that is, if we have not used it prior to getting hit mid-air.
We can use this function to make some interesting jumps; for example, a jump that once we are launched (by a sentry), we must use our double jump for more height or more (horizontal) distance.
Whether you are able to jump back depends on the force of the knockback; if the force from the knockback is too much, you won’t be able to turn around until it’s over.
Different Ways To Utilize This Jump
A different way to do this is vertically, instead of horizontally! Here’s my setup:
You can equip the sentry with whatever you want, but I suggest using a Quantum Portal. Something else that I found–which works best for this version–was: if you were to jump, get hit, and jump again, it would work.
Using both the improvement and alteration, we can have some pretty cool concepts for parkour.
And with a Gimkitter’s imagination and goals, this little sentry can do many, many things!
