The Actual Guide:
Journeys And Quests
Ello there, welcome to our Wondrous journeys and quests section! Grab a cup of tea and lets sit down and make some quests.
When creating a quests the first thing you want to note is if they are working against each other to complete the quest or with each other to complete the quest? Refer to the following dropdowns:
Working Together <3
Welcome to working together! Lands of doves and teamwork and friendship are ahead! In this section we will be creating a goal for everyone to work towards together!
The Players
Now when creating quests you want to take note of the players. When making journeys with multiple players, I would recommend putting each player on a different team, and each team has a better ability. For example, we are going through a large brush where there are thorns and it is too thick to get through, you can make team one able to press a button by giving the team a random item at the start (for example a seed) and using a vending machine that takes that seed type to break down the shrubs, and when it breaks it grants them their color seed back. The reason we could do this is because each player will have a different use to the team.
Downsides: you will need all teams used to be filled with players.
The Quest Itself
The quest is very important when making multiplayer maps, if you make a quest where one person has to get an item it will be boring for the others. The ideal quests are going to be one where each player needs to do something important. For example: you need to find five seeds (there are five teams in this map) you can use an inventory item manager to make it where each player can only grab one seed, and at the end they all need to deposit a seed into a vending machine.
A Competitive Quest
The Players
The Players have a large role in making a competitive quest. If one player is stronger than others its unfair, but we want to add fun things to keep them entertained. When doing this, I recommend giving people powerups if they do certain things. For example, if Joe gets to a checkpoint first Joe gets a slight speed boost.
The Quest
The quest needs to be something where if one player does something, the one player wins. I would recommend trying to get an item and if item is collected end game and the person with the most of that item wins. Or you can do some sort of racing game and the first to enter a zone wins.
Publishing And Settings
Hello there! If you made it this far here’s a piece of bread to satisfy your hunger:
Now lets get on with it.
The Name And Thumbnail
When choosing a name you want to get a good summary of the game, I approximately two words. Lets say I had a game about adventuring in space with friends, we could call it “Space Adventurers” and in the description you always want to say its multiplayer, so no lonely peeps like me try to join it. You also might want to say what the minimum players are too. And for the thumbnail you want to put multiple gims in it, either racing or working together or- whatever you get the point.
Settings
Making Teams
Making Teams is difficult because ti depends on how many players are supposed to be in the game, for example with multiplayer where they work together they need teams to have different abilities, but when they are playing against each other they need different teams so they can Kill eachother.
Can Host join By Themselves
No.
