I’m gonna try to do this…
I’m making an ultimate guide
I really hope people like this

okay on that note I’ll start
lately i’ve been making guides on stuff like how to make bugs and bug zappers and things
and SOMEBODY said I should just make one big guide, so I’m doing that. kinda.
first things first
trigger loops/repeater clocks,
very important. there is already many guides on that so I’m just gonna say go check those out. the main baseline for creating there particle effects( like bugs around a lantern or spray from a waterfall) make a trigger loop each trigger should transmit on a channel and a prop/ device should activate on that channel and deactivate on the next triggers channel

two-loop systems

so you can also make these kind of two loop systems, where essentially, you create two aspects of motion (a moths wings flapping the spray of a waterfall changing shape. you do this by creating two trigger loop\repeater clock systems that are not necessarily coordinated together.

organizing

when you start getting into 2-3-4-5 to I don’t know how many loops in your map, you need to be able to organize. this means two things one: not having 15 million wires and 2: not confusing confusing any of you like 40 channels or sumthin. to deal with the wires problem, just use channels (shocking I know). to deal with the fifteen million channels problem I name my channels (type of effect, trigger or repeater, #)
examples
waterfall trigger 1
waterfall trigger 2
waterfall spray repeater 1
waterfall spray repeater 2
you get it

finding all those minor mistakes

inevitably, you will make some mistake, such as having some barrier on the wrong channel and that barrier activates a text and then you have a whole string of messed up props. I mean obviously PLAYTEST it and then you can change the mistake. but you can avoid them entirely by just copying props that are correct. still, mistakes will be made, but the best way to fix them is just to playtest until you know its correct.

where and when to use effects

a lot of things that you would use effects for are almost just a small detail so, for most effects, try not to make them big and flashy. make them on the behind layer so the player is on top of them, unless you need the player to go behind them, example: a secret waterfall cave thing. also don’t make a area that has like 20 waterfall and all the trees have leaves falling and all the lamps have bugs flying around them and you also made a cool fish swimming around in the lake and a random butterfly in a meadow and a deer and this and that and whatnot. two reasons why you should not do that, one, if anybody is playing on a low end device its gonna blow up, and two it will use a TON of memory. use effects fairly sparsely and only when you think you need something extra to spice up your map.

guides on effects

sadly I can’t make this a wiki so I’m sorry that you guys can’t add to this but
yeah here’s two guides for you

How to make a bug zapper

How to make a moths/flies moving around a lantern

P.S. I am not to familiar with the rules about wikies, but if somebody wanted to make this a wiki I wouldn’t be adverse…

Not really a good guide on effects if there’s no images for the effects.

Could you by any chance make the text “normal”…
I can’t read it.
I need glasses 0_o

A suggestion

Maybe don’t pound the reader with tons of text, especially in bold

Also, like CC26 said, add images.

It doesn’t look like a finished guide

If anything, this isn’t even coherent.
Blinding bold text, a wall of text doing absolutely nothing, punctuation is awful, and there’s just two links sitting at the bottom.

This is just a lazy attempt at a TUG, and it’s barely a guide at all.

Maybe if you had more images and better descriptions, we would. Its honestly a good idea for a TUG.

Without TL4’s, there’s no one to make this a wiki for you. Besides, wiki privilege is reserved for TL3’s for a reason.

Okay so immediately your grammar stood out. I totally get typing in all lowercase but that’s when I’m chatting with my friends… also why is everything in bold and LARGE . There is close to 0 punctuation. It’s taken every force of will I have to even be able to read this.

Secondly your formatting also is horrendous… I can’t tell where one section starts and another ends. It’s hard to see where you move onto another subject

This also isn’t really a guide??? You’re basically explaining an idea for how a system can work, but there is no actual teaching people how to use channels, linking systems, etc. The lack of images make it hard to see exactly what’s going on especially when effects are so er visual.

This is an extremely lazy attempt at a TUG, maybe do some research into better guide making and try again at a later time.

I just skimmed through this I’m too lazy to read it all
You might wanna use dropdowns, it helps organize the steps

This is dropdown

Boo!

IM SORRY FOR POSTING THIS
somebody please take this down
