Different types of weather -biomes-

You could put a game overlay that when clicked teleports you to a different area that is a map

I think I know how you can make a map,

Start with a button or overlay that deactivates when you press it and activates a camera point device, then make an overlay that appears when you press the previous button/overlay that deactivates the camera point device and activates the button/first overlay and deactivates when pressed. Then just make a miniature version of your game where the camera point is.
