Gadgets: An Overview, Ranking & Practical Uses

Before I get into this guide; I just came out of an abrupt break, sorry. For my “deleted” dialogue guide, it was a dialogue guide & I didn’t really know how to delete it  I also am not sure of the category this guide should go into, nor tags. And no, I’m not TL3 or TL4, I think this guide style is pretty serious. Into the guide!

Gadgets are a consistent feature in Gimkit games, whether used against sentries (P.V.P.), props, or other players (P.V.P.). Currently, there are 14 gadgets in total, 8 gadgets in GKC. This guide is basically an overview to gadgets, how they should be ranked, and practical uses for them.

Overview

What are gadgets?

Gadgets are the form of objects used to fight or interact with other entities in-game. There are many gadgets, such as the Zapper, the P.M.L, the Pixelator (do you remember?) and more!

When would I use gadgets?

Typically, gadgets are added into games that require you to break and/or attack something. Different types of game that would traditionally use gadgets are; P.V.P. games, dungeon crawlers, brick breaker games, etc. There are many uses for gadgets, each unique and different from each other.

Are gadgets different from each other?

Yes, they are. While most gadgets are ranged, some are built on melee damage, although it isn’t recommended to pit a melee gadget against a ranged gadget.

Rankings

I’m going to be Ranking these from worst (top) to best. Keep in mind, this is my opinion on gadgets. Also note that, if you see a gadget so low, that’s not because it’s bad, but because there are now more gadgets to take into account.

                            14. Pickaxe

This is basically the melee gadget of Gimkit. Surprisingly, its PVP damage has been re-added, despite the developers removing it due to its damage amount being unstable as it was meant to mine blocks & blocks only.

Info

Damage: 1, 5, 25, 100, 300

Reload: Melee/~1s

Range: Melee/~1t

Appearance:

                            13. Hammer

This is the lowest ranked gadget not in GKC. The hammer was one of 4 gadgets that debuted in Gimkit’s Apocalypse gamemode. There are two reasons this is better than the pickaxe;

  • it looks cooler (not relevant)
  • because this is an intended melee gadget, damage might be more stable
Info

Damage: 1 (one variant, unknown rarity)

Reload: Melee/~1s

Range: Melee/~1t

Appearance:

                         12. Wooden Wand

This is slightly lower than the zapper, albeit a higher ammo cap, better damage, and faster projectiles; it doesn’t have a rapid fire, unlike the zapper. If we were to have two stationary players hit each other, one with a wooden wand, one with a zapper, the zapper would likely win.

Info

Damage: 20, 24, 28, 32, 36

Reload: 3s

Range: ~11t

Ammo Cap: 20, 22, 24, 26, 28

Appearance:

                           11. Zapper

This slightly beats the wooden wand because of it’s rapid fire, but other than that, it’s mid. The zapper is basically the starter gadget for Gimkit games (like O.W.O.).

Info

Damage: 14, 16, 18, 20, 22

Reload: 2s

Range: ~7t

Ammo Cap: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20

Appearance:

                         10. Stoneburster

This is second of the 4 gadgets from Apocalypse. The Stoneburster is basically a reskin of the Zapper, except it seems to be better in terms of reload speed & ammo cap. Not much is known otherwise.

Info

Damage: 18 (Rare)

Reload: ~1.5s

Range: ~7t(?)

Ammo Cap: 22 (Rare)

Appearance:

                            9. Pixelator

The Pixelator debutted in Knockback, possibly Gimkit’s implementation of Super Smash Bros. However, this came out in Season 3, and currently, we are still waiting for the gadget to arrive in GKC.

Info

Damage: 20% (Fragility, Rare)

Reload: ~1.5s

Range: ~18.5+(?)

Ammo Cap: 22 (Rare)

Appearance:

                         8. Quantum Portal

I was surprised to see myself rank this gadget this low, but compared to the other gadgets, it definitely meets its match. Personally, I think this gadget is so overrated. I get it does good damage, but what about the projectile speed, ammo cap, and reload time? You can’t just rank a gadget of its legendary.

Info

Damage: 184, 196, 208, 220, 232

Reload: ~2.5s

Range: Infinite

Ammo Cap: 1

Appearance:

                            7. Evil Eye

The Evil Eye gadget is the result of a zapper on steroids, since the design clearly resembles a zapper. The projectile speed is okay(ish) & the damage is definitely there, but its slow reload weighs it down.

Info

Damage: 72, 80, 88, 96, 104

Reload: 5s

Range: Infinite

Ammo Cap: 4

Appearance:

                     6. Portable Muffin Launcher

The P.M.L. is the most underrated gadget of all time, considering how disliked it is (is it the sound, the knockout message, the look, idk). Don’t take it for granted!

Info

Damage: 44, 51, 58, 65, 72

Reload: ~4.5s

Range: ~30t

Ammo Cap: 12

Appearance:

                        5. Snowball Launcher

This gadget is pretty decent. There isn’t a sh00t cool down, the damage is pretty good for a gadget like this, and it has the highest ammo cap. However, I think that some of the gadgets are just better.

Info

Damage: 28, 30, 32, 34, 36

Reload: 2s

Range: ~16t

Ammo Cap: 12, 14, 16, 18, 20

Appearance:

                         4. Slingshot

The slingshot is a gadget that is pretty good in terms of speed & damage. It used to be the fastest gadget until the Blaster popped into existence, but it still is a pretty good gadget, with the damage and speed being there. However, the sh00t cool down is long & the ammo Cap is low, which brings it to here.

Info

Damage: 60, 66, 72, 78, 84

Reload: ~4s

Range: ~16t

Ammo Cap: 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

Appearance:

                         3. Prickler

This is the third of four gadgets coming from Apocalypse, and I gotta say, this is a pretty good gadget so far. The speed is about the same as the slingshot, the damage is decent, and the reload is fast. In my opinion, this is going to be the next underrated gadget.

Info

Damage: 40 (Rare)

Reload: 2s

Range: ~18.5+(?)

Ammo Cap: 16 (Rare)

Appearance:

                         2. Twister

This is basically a combo of quantum & evil eye, minus the range. The speed is good, and the gadget definitely packs quite the punch. However, I think that some gadgets may outclass it, if the player/user is skilled enough. But, this is still a good gadget. This is going to be the gadget that becomes overrated, but it’s actually good.

Info

Damage: 140 (Rare)

Reload: ~2.5s

Range: ~18.5+(?)

Ammo Cap: 3 (Rare)

Appearance:

                         1. Blaster

In my opinion, the Blaster is the best gadget yet. It’s the result of a slingshot and zapper having a kid; it has the faster projectile speed, overtaking the slingshot, and it has a rapid fire mechanic, making it pretty OP.

Info

Damage: 20, 23, 26, 29, 32

Reload: ~2.5s

Range: ~17

Ammo Cap: 12, 16, 20, 24, 28

Appearance:

That was a lot of text for me to make

Practical Uses

Each gadget has its own advantages & disadvantages. Does that mean you shouldn’t use some? No. Every gadget is good to use in some way. However, here are some uses that some gadgets fit best!

                         For dungeon crawlers...

Currently, the zapper or wooden wand would fit best in, due to their positions as starter gadgets. However, the Stoneburster currently has the most potential. All we have to do is wait until the new gadgets get into GKC.

                      For (island) survival games...

As of right now, the Slingshot could make sense, because you could make it so that the player crafts it from materials around the setting. With the new gadgets, all 4 gadgets (stoneburster, twister, prickler, and hammer) could fit in, depending on what your settings & obstacles are, plus the slingshot.

                         For futuristic games...

For games like this, there are 4 gadgets that fit in; zapper, blaster, evil eye, and quantum portal. This can also depend on whether your game is a futuristic game like 2500 C.E., or a post-apocalyptic game (survival games, duh…).

                       For brick breaker games...

The obvious choices are the pickaxe (and in the future, hammer). But, we could also implement the blaster to “blast” blocks, & the stoneburster too (of course, when it’s available for us to use)!

Conclusion

In conclusion, there are a variety of gadgets in this game, each with different ranking positions, uses, and features. Use them to your own liking; this is just a guide on gadgets, lol.

Nice! This reminds me of JoeTheChicken’s guide that was pretty much exactly like this. It seems it was deleted in the guide purge :sob:

Yeah, I couldn’t find it, but it was my inspiration. Also, what was the guide purge?

They deleted a lot of guide but, didn’t really give a reason. Some I know of were:
___Land, A Player Selector System, Hollow Knight Part 2, The Ultimate Guide to Gadgets

Hey could you please add the Fire Rate of each Gadget? That’d be pretty cool

The evil eye is actually the zapper but he has gone on to his Villain Arc

BUMP

we need to update this for the timekeeper gadget too
I’ve used it and kinda know how it works to an extent,
so if you need some detailing,
I can help y’all :3

You should! And honestly a guide like this should be a made a wiki if the OP wants, just because new gadgets are added to Gimkit so often.

Yeah, I can’t really edit it right now. That’d be great if someone made this a wiki.

I have an idea. Since this is more of your preference of gadgets, I could make a wiki where it’s just the facts instead of your preference?

Sure, I don’t mind that. And also I haven’t yet used the new timekeeper, gotta see that.

I already made one of these before, and it was flagged…
plus there already is a wiki for this, but it was more pvp based…
oh well, goood effort

I like all of this, but a lot of these don’t take into account special preferences and possible upgrading. For example, people don’t like the P.M.L. so much because it looks TERRIBLE! Who wants a Portable Muffin Launcher in their map? Also, The Quantum Portal just looks better than all the other gadgets *(in my opinion) and could be upgraded in complex ways, including code. Also, there is a tiny bit of… Opinion…

For abilities:
Inventory manager+item. The player holds item = activate ability constantly until release, such as upgraded power, speed, health, shield, currency, etc.
Add code into the mix and you can get even more advanced!

so real!!!

lol

ig, people dont like it because its just like a mid weapon, kinda like the wand.
not that fast, kinda good dmg, kinda good firerate, slow reload.
there just is better alternetives.

how is this 5th?
imean, i would say in pvp snowball beats sling anyday.

can u clarify/.

correct

anwyays, i just think prickler, is kinda like pml, so bad, twister is definetly a new competitor, like a better evil eye.
and snowball is underrated here

good guide! @AMineRide
