Custom Keybindings - Dream or Reality?

If a tag is in a post, it means that it’s really hard to make but if someone successfully made custom keybindings, then it would open up tons of GKC study.

Wait, you aren’t allowed to do that?
Sorry inky!

Could you bump them if you have necessary questions?

@wingwave, do you need something other than the reload button?

Oops I did it anyway :frowning:

Yeah.

So far, I have reload, numbers, and enter, if I recall correctly.

I was thinking about left click but it’s not final yet.

What about the keybinds 2, 3, 4, and 5 using basically the same system as the reload button but using gadgets that require different items to refill?
Number Keybinds…

Yeah, that’s why I said that

I don’t really update the post.

why don’t you just take the letter keys and swap them around?

Hey Vortex,
so, in fact, gimkit, unlike some other games, does not have the ability to change letter keys, and we cant swap them yet.

don’t u guys dare “its not impossible” me. :imp: (/j)

yeah, wingwave doesn’t really want to do that.
We are researching how to do it inside gkc

hey, be nice!
Be nice to other people, and yourself!

You had a valid point!

Hey wait a minute. Can’t the lazy squid just make a mod that lets you do this?

Things like this have been mentioned, and the answer is no, we want this to be entirely in GKC.

On research topics, read EVERYTHING, please.

Ok I might be necroposting here but we have a guide on how to do this with the number keys. So at this point the reaserch has ended. There’s no point in keeping this open

Well, not necessarily.
First off, there are only 5 available slots, which only allows for 6 different possibilities (1 is the unequipped menu).
Having more possibilities is a must for games that want to intensely use keybinds, just having 6 isn’t good enough.
Plus, keybinds are also to help speed up different actions. Let’s be fair, if you have one hand on wasd/arrow keys (especially the latter) and the other on your mouse or trackpad, it’s not super easy to press those keybinds, and especially hard to do it while moving.
Meanwhile, keys like “e” or “/” are closer to the moving keys, making for easier interactions.

See my point? Research shouldn’t end here.

So basically, for the 1-5 (or whatever the max slots is)
You would do a gadget for each one, and then have a lifecycle for gadget fired, and then have it check what reloading-needed item is missing? Also, I think you could also use the pickaxe, because you could check if none are missing.
