Why can't I make the ground in my platformer make you respawn when you fall on it from a higher point in the game?

I am making a jail game that is a platformer and I don’t know how to make it so that when you fallofff it makes you respawn. Can you tell me how, please?

I know! you get a checkpoint

And put lasers on the ground

And then fit the play button and test it, and it should work. If not, let me know, so I can help you in a better way. (not that this way isn’t good, it could just be a bit better.

search before you post please theres a lot of guides on this but heres one of them

Summary

Why does everyone use lasers , just make a really ,really long zone and wire it to a respawn device. (Player enters zone - Respawn).

He’s/she/they are new.
Btw what you can do from the top of my mind is make a big zone covering the map except a gim sized gap which where on the zone settings, if you leave the zone, it sends a signal which can then go to a damage device

One way can be to add a laser beam, make the laser completely invisible*, and the ground should make you respawn. Otherwise, go with the zone method.

*Make the laser completely black and add these 3 settings:

To make a zone, do i have to go in devices and get it?

ok thank you, that will really help me make this platformer.

Also, the sentry’s I have as guards won’t show up. Can I fix that?

Ye. Do you have item slots on? That may be the reason why the sentries aren’t showing up.

yeah, I do but you need a gadget to break a 3d printer which opens the door, which also deactivates a laser. should I just use a but to open the door?

The best way is to use a zone. First, just go to devices and search for the “zone” device. Make it so that when you enter the zone, it broadcasts on the “respawn” channel.

Then, add a respawn device, and make it so that it respawns you when it receives a signal from “respawn”.

Zones are not bad, but they said a high drop. Unless the OP wants to keep falling for 20 seconds? Unless you place them at different heights, but that would require more memory.
