So here’s the idea. What is a T.A.S? It’s a Tool Assisted Speedrun. It basically does makes a program do all the actions frame perfectly with help from the player who does all the actions and splices it together.
Main Question:
For plaformers, could you make your own T.A.S for your maps? Such as for a tower you can record and splice ur actions with frame slowing and stuff. Would it have to be an external addon or able to be done in GKC?
Other question:
Would all jumping be possible?
All jumping is in a plaformer map where you can make checkpoints wherever you wish this is normally used in towers im roblox and such. Where it allows practice and the full experience without skipping any parts. Such as: in games where there are no checkpoints: Citadel of Burning Desire to name a few, you could make checkpoints.
I thought about it with sentries but that was too much memory, but maybe something along the lines of:
Sentries in confusing parts and item trails in ez parts?
This already exists as an external software. If you wanted to do a TAS in creative, you would probably have to use a property string that records the player’s position and saves it, and then a ton of teleporters placed everywhere around the map. There would be a trigger loop that reads from it and teleports you to the location specified in the string, but you would still need the external software to set the string.
with a t.a.s, slowing the game could be causing large amounts of lag, but you cant force the player to jump and move
i guess you could use sentrys, as suggested below
but the problem is that they would probably use up too much memory
and its actually more like just pushing the player instead of running a long line of actions
splicing and recording should be impossible
that should be done with external software
all jumping is impossible if you want it to be precise (like exactly the players pos)
but if you just want it to put checkpoints at about where the player made the checkpoint
then you might have to put checkpoints everywhere
and then do something with a lot of zones and checkpoints
something like making it so when your within the zone of a checkpoint and you press a button overlay on screen it sees what zone your in and assigns you to that checkpoint with a property
so when you get knocked out, it checks what checkpoint you should go to and makes that the active checkpoint
when gimkit decides to add the ability to edit x y properties, then some of these might be possible
albeit a bit memory consuming
really sounds like a modding question of which you ask hexa for the link to his discord server that is based around that and has a lot of experienced modders
