Main Information: This is a guide used in games where you can have options to select roles, maps, etc. You can use it for any sort of map where you choose things. I’d use it for rpg games, racing games, and things like those.
Devices Needed
- a zone for each category that you plan to include
- a vending machine for each category you plan to include (Or you can use a button)
- props/barriers to make images for each category you plan to include
Step One: Zone
Summary: The zone is used to register when a player is in the area, thus activating the little image so that players can see it. As GimGuy stated in the comments below, you could also use a trigger, especially for a smaller area.
Steps: Place down a zone (it can be circular or rectangular depending on your map and what you want)
Change the following settings:
When player enters zone, transmit on —> [a channel describing what you want to highlight, in my example, it’s highlighting a map called Sandy Shores]
When player leaves zone, transmit on —> [a channel describing what you want to unhighlight, hence the unhighlight Sandy Shores ]
Scope—> player
Step Two: Vending Machine
Summary: The vending machine here can be used to update a property or something to grant the map/role to the player
Steps: Place down a vending machine (make sure you change it to not be visible if that’s what you want and additionally, change the purchasing currency) and change the following settings:
Purchase Action—> Transmit on channel
When item purchased, transmit on—> [a channel describing the map/role you selected, in my example, it’s the map Sandy Shores]
Step Three: Art
Summary: To help player know what they are selecting, adding a little image can help.
Steps: You can use a variety of props and devices to customize this for your map. If you are selecting a map, I would suggest using a rectangular base and adding props and other items on top. Now for a role, you could do the same thing, but you could also have a sentry or an npc there.
But whatever you choose be sure to change the following settings:
Active on game start—> no
Scope—> player
Activate when receiving on—> [the channel you used for the entering of the zone]
Deactivate when receiving on—> [the channel you used for the exiting of the zone]
