Question About Annoying Things

So I was developing a GKC map, and I came across a question that is vital to the maps continued development: When you’re making your maps, what are the most frustrating things you’ve ever had to do?

I don’t mean things that are difficult, I mean things where you go “Oh, I wish there was a better way to do this”. For example, flipping a very large selection of props to all face the other way.

This is related to my map, so any stories/ideas/other things about frustrating experiences you’ve had building would be deeply appreciated.

Hmm… probably when I forgot to change the settings for a trigger before I started to duplicate it, so I had to change each trigger individually. Also, when I forgot to change the collision in a coral rug so I had about 500 coral pieces WITH COLLISION and I had to start over.

Seeing what’s floor and what’s wall and easily erasing accidentally placed walls instead of having to spend 6 trillion years (and overnight story) differentiating between floors and walls.

  • copying wires (you already knew that)
  • remembering how different mechanics go (if you could only just type it into gimkit and it would appear or smthn, like pre-made mechanics)
  • deleting devices with zone-use
  • wire sifting, if they were smaller or smthn thatd be nice
  • not being able to drag layers

Liking every comment because all of these are so true

But probably mass-option-changing
or
When you build a giant structure out of terrain then realise all of them were set to floor instead of wall so you need to start all over (a way to mass-change terrain)

Accidentally placing walls instead of floors or vice versa, and having to reset everything is a big one for me.

Also finding a specific device that’s connected to a channel. (If it’s placed in the corner and I have no idea, etc)

Making a block that runs when receiving on a channel, (like the notification device) but wanting to change the channel.

Is there a way to change it? :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

You can’t use scroll wheel in the block code. It’s very annoying whenever i go to scroll down like I would do in scratch and nothing happens.

Oh, and grouping… for props and barrier art. It’s so annoying I swear for example if I have a mountain with like a bunch of props and barriers, but it’s on top of a grass emoji carpet thing, I can’t copy the mountain cause I’ll end up copying the grass too

And layering in the layers section, I have to keep clicking and clicking the arrow and I wish I could drag each item up.

Doing repetitive things but having to change little things in its settings. It’s supa tedious

Adding onto that, I think we need like, a different layers system that you can use personally during editing so you can move and interact with things under large barriers or decoration.

Not being able to use shift or alt when resizing something, especially zones and barriers.

There should just be a way to change terrain once it’s already been put down in general…

Or even delete more than a 3x3 square of terrain.

Ohh, and I hate when it resets some of your deletion settings when you close out the eraser tab so next time you erase you have to redo all the settings.

Since you can place 4x4 squares of terrain, you should be able to delete 4x4 squares too.

When copying multiple devices with block code, and it only copies the block code on the device you used in that selection, replacing whatever code was originally on the other devices with the copied code of the one device.

Being blocked from a game multiple times, disconnecting for no reason, and after that, the Editing options don’t save, there is no Permanent Editing settings, and not having categories on props

It’s actually kind of funny how many things are annoying in GKC

when you try to make a barrier background and it messes all of the layering you’ve done in platformer
