On screen ui expansion

please note that this post is not intended for those new to GKC or those with little experience with GKC

so I know what you MIGHT be thinking but there’s already ui or that’d take up way too much memory and would only half work
but this is very much possible with the use of 2 devices (technically more than 2) the (sentry) and the (camera point) with these we can place the camera in a different spot compared to the player and we can hide the sentries offscreen whilst still making them interactable!

now the real thing comes in when we give the player a gadget to hit and knockout the sentries (make sure their range is too short to see the player) and add some barriers in spots to be visible in the camera point (these will be the buttons)

now if we make the player spawn or get teleported to a spot and remove all their walk speed we can angle the sentries in between the barriers and the player so that when the player presses the barrier they hit the sentry PLUS if we add a few more things we can make it so that when the sentry is knocked out we can make it send on a channel with different channels for different sentry’s (or buttons)

however some downside with this system are if multiple players are playing you cant (as far as I know) make it work properly as it will send for all players regardless of who sent it

if we could find a way to make this more memory efficient or work with multiple people it would be amazing the new thing we could make
(oh and by the way I chose sentries since you can interact with them from a distance multiple times (unlike props))

I read the whole thing and I’m still confused on what you want. I know this is about sentry interactions kinda tho

Just wondering, how would the player hit the sentry if they can’t see it because their screen is in a different place?

sorry for being a bit late but theres barriers placed in the area the player can see and when the player attempts to click or press the barrier with a gadget equipped they end up knocking out a sentry thats placed inbetween the player and the barrier to mimic a sort of ui almost

Ooh I get it now. Apoll02 has this type of thing in his platformer-not platformer.

Can you not reactivate props? Like when the prop’s destroyed, it deactivates, then reactivates?

uhhh you cant do that since it doesn’t deactivate and is destroyed (basically deactivated without being able to reactivate)(sentries RESPAWN after they get destroyed)

Oh, it doesn’t? Ok then.

I haven’t played around with props much. Thanks.

Pretty cool.
