Do you know what a movement direction detector is?

Its four triggers that are positioned as a mobile movement button interface, like this:

Once you step on one of them, it teleports you back to the middle of the triggers.
Each of them have a unique function- for example, the top moves you up OR scrolls through a shop screen.
For the movement, just use gk creative platforming.
Then that’s low quality…

You’d have to get a VERY low resolution grid if you want low memory usage and less time spent.
Yes, overlays could work. But what about jumping?
Simple. Use a trigger movement direction detector.

use trigger things to move, like 4 triggers around you, if you activate one get slowed and it changes the screen.
