A Trigger loop is really really easy to comprehend when you get to know what it really is.
it basically making a channel to be transmit in a certain interval over and over again, hence the âTransmit on X Channel when triggeredâ and âTrigger when receiving on X channel,â meaning that it could transmit a channel, delay, and transmit again, then repeat.
The main reason Gimkitters donât utilize repeaters was not only because the high memory it takes or the low maximum limit you could place them on a map, it because of the tasks it could accomplish could be perfectly replaced by trigger loop in a much, much better way.
erm also, do you know the fact that abusing repeaters would affect you severely on your mental health??
By technicality, since thereâs 9222 users on the forums, and aboutâŠ55% off the users are inactive and retired, it is not possible to get everyoneâs opinion.
Yâall this isnât that complicated.
First off, best device isnât even on here. The best device is the item granter. It is basically a trigger, but it can run code 'when receiving on", saving memory and looks, and it can grant items, helpful when you need people to get stuff after running code.
I ended up voting for property, because I donât know how any good map (maybe exception of platformers) run without properties.
Second, the worst devices is (gasp) not the repeater! Yes, I mean it. Listen, yâall all have a point with how the repeater is useless, but I have two counterarguments:
It is just easier to use. Itâs beginner friendly and pretty simple to set up. I actually use these in my map, and I donât have that much of a problem with them (ok sure I have >500 memory left so maybe I should)
The ball is the worst. Because a game could use a repeater, you would never know, and everything would be fine. But a ball, no offense to Gimkit team, they did a great job with the design and making the physics and all right, but it just isnât really that fun to play with. In fact, I feel like games that just randomly has a ball is kind of worse. It isnât the most attractive thing to look at, and if somebody puts a ball in there game, people will fire at it and it will just be annoying and chaotic.
So yes, the repeater is not the worst, and others should see my point and vote the ball as the worst.
No California Love didnât give me enough time 5 seconds too lateâŠ
Team barrier all the way.
You can never have too many of them.
Theyâre cheap, simple, and have TONS of art potential to spice up your map
The only things that stops the fun is the barrier limit
Sure, you can do plenty with the more technical devices, but you only need a device for what you want. Not more.
Play "Surrendering to Despair " on discovery if you wanna see some real freaky barrier art. Itâs one of the best examples I know of that show how much you can do with them.
