How to make semi-solids in GKC!

Introduction

Hi! I recently discovered how to make a semi-solid in GKC, and as far as I know, no one has made a guide on it, and its VERY simple

Materials

1 zone
2 barriers
yep you read that right, that’s it!

How to make Semi Solids!

Alright, so basically place a barrier, and have it NOT active on game start. make sure that it activates when recieving on “Semi Solid is solid” and deactivates on “Semi Solid Unsolid” now make a zone, that when entering the zone, sends a message on channel “Semi Solid is solid” and when you leave the zone, it sends a message on “Semi Solid Unsolid” now make another barrier ontop of the original one, but make it active on game start with NO collision, and make it activate on “Semi Solid unsolid” and Deactivate on “Semi Solid is solid”
settings should look like this

Conclusion

in conclusion this is one great way to make your platformers a little more fun! this is something commonly found in other platforming games!

That’s really cool! Good guide, but maybe put some more pictures?
Oh, yeah, congratulations on regular

you can do it in top down, it just is meant to be used in platformer.

I’ll use this but have it only have collisions off to make a very very hard version of Don’t Look Down, with lots of memory parts

yo fleet I’m not going to do this off-topic stuff but your showcase map has expired please renew it

Reminds me or kirby/mario platformers but one question; can it be done with wires? See, I hate dealing with channels 'cause I get them mixed up (Then again, my map is a wire mess) Anyway, is it possible with wires?

It should be possible with wires.

it is possible with wires, I just use channels as channels cost 0 memory

Some additional information i’d like to add.

  • You can do this in top-down! its just more likely to be used in platformer
  • You will want to make the barriers as close in position as you possibly can, so the player cant visibly see the changes.
  • the semi-solid can be a slope, it just doesn’t work too good, so I wouldn’t recomend doing so.

Bump.
