What’s up, everyone? I’m back…after not posting for a year…technically…lol. (A lot has changed since I’ve been on here. Good thing that I have as well.) Anyway, I have recently been working on my new Gimkit Creative horror map and recently added a sprint mechanic. It’s a straightforward design that works quite well, so let’s get into the build.
===Materials Needed:====
- 1 Game Overlay
- 2 Speed Modifiers
- 2 Wire Repeaters
- 1 Trigger
First, what you’re going to want to do, is click on a Speed Modifier and add the speed that you want the player to sprint at. You’re only going to do this with one because the other one is to take you back to normal speed after the sprinting time has elapsed. You should have something that looks like this:
After that, click on the Game Overlay, and add these settings:
Now, click on the Trigger and change it so that when it’s triggered, it transmits on a channel. That channel is going to be the channel for the Game Overlay that hides it. (This’ll start making sense in a minute.)
Finally, click on one Wire Repeater and set it to about 3 or so seconds. You could do longer, but I did some experimenting and found that 3 seconds is the perfect time to sprint. Also, take the other Wire Repeater and do the same thing, except set the time to around 6-7 seconds.
First Repeater:
Second Repeater:
Now, let’s get into the wiring. First, wire the Game Overlay to the first Speed Modifier, the one that we changed in the beginning.
Next, wire the Game Overlay to the Wire Repeater, like so.
Now, wire the Wire Repeater to the second Speed Modifier, the one we didn’t change.
Congratulations! We have the “Sprint” part of our machine done. Now, we have to do the cooldown. Just wire the Trigger to the longer Wire Repeater and then to the Game Overlay like so:
And now, we have finished our SSM, with a functional cooldown!
