What even is this guide about ?
Lets start with what is a Platform fighter , to some people this word might be new so lets define it
A platform fighter is basically game with platforming and fighting.
Many popular games fit this category such as Super Smash Bros Ultimate and Brawlhalla.
know that you know what your making lets get straight into making the game
Setting your game up
In this part you do the basics by changing the map options to what we need.
Setting up your game
Make a map and select platformer . ( You don’t have to create a new map you can just edit a
pre-existing map if you want to.)
-
Go to the map options
-
click on Health & Shield
-
Make your settings look like this
The actual Map.
Stage making Process
A platform fighter is not a platform fighter is not a platform fighter without have an actual
platform to fight on.
In this part just create a stage \ for your players to fight on.
It can be as complicated as you want or as simple as you want.
Here’s the stage I made its very bare bones and simple.
Feel free to add any decoration you want to your stage for example if you wanna add a mountain behind your map go ahead. Just make sure to not have any props/barrier with their collision turned on.(Unless you want them to)
Features/add-ons
We could end it here but theirs still so much about a platform fighter that we could add.
Small features make a big difference.
So lets start. Keep in mind that you don’t have to add these features.
Semi-Solids
Materials: 2 barriers, 1 zone.
Step 1. Take a barrier, and make it player scoped. Activate on br1activate, deactivate of br1deactivate. (Sorry for the names, it’s to make it more easy to keep track of.)
Now make another barrier, make it in the same place, same size, put it a layer behind though. Turn off collision for this barrier.
(in case you don’t know it’s at the bottom of the all options tab.)
Step 2. Make a zone, under the barriers like this.
Make sure it is partly going through the barriers, and going all the way to the ground. This is so you can attack them if you are under them.
Next, change the settings to when entered, broadcast on br1activate.
When exited, broadcast on br1deactivate.
Like this.
You should be done now!
Here is a gif of how it works.
If you want more semi-solids, copy and paste the whole thing and change the 1 to the next number, 2, 3, etc.
Xuch23 signing off, for maybe forever.

How to Make Semi-Solid Platforms (Platformer Mode) - #21 by Zane7655
Ledge hanging
To do this the player needs to fall off the edge and hit the side of the platform.
And then the player will just hang their.
Here’s a poorly drawn diagram of ledge hanging.
We will be adding this feature but with a couple of modifications.
Our version of ledge hanging will basically be that if the player falls and they have are close to the ledge they get an option to teleport back to the platform.
Okay so find a ledge in your map.
Make sure to find a real ledge.
Let me show you an example of stuff that are not ledges but could easily be confused as one.
Okay now here example of a real ledge
Now that you have found your ledge
add a zone thats a little goes a little outwards from the ledge and goes down from the ledge.
It kinda looks like this
Now add a Overlay.
Set your settings to the ones shown in the pictures.
Now add a teleporter very close to the edge of the ledge.
Now wire the teleporter to the overlay.(Button pressed teleport - Player here)
Now go into the Zones settings and change it to match the stuff in the image.
Now go into the overlays settings and make it match the stuff shown in the image.
Now your done but if you want to do this again for a different ledge make sure you make the Channels have different names.
If you’ve done everything correctly the end result should be similar to this.
If you feel like the ledge jump is too hard to perform increase the size of the zone !
This is a WIP, And more will be added, so please be patient
But basically this section is just custom maps that can be made and how you can make them in GKC.
A closing statement
Okay thats it for now.
This is a WIP so stuff will be added soon. I’m gonna add semisolids soon.
Feedback would be grately appreciated.
There’s probably a million spelling and grammar mistakes so if you would like to point them out that would be great. If anything is wrong please tell me.
I’m gonna try to get this made into a wiki so everyone can add stuff to this .
But I mostly want this to be a wiki for the “Stages you could make” Section I want the community to make their own stages. So ya thats its and thank for reading.
– Demo
Also is it called ledge hanging or edge hanging when you hang on to the edge of a platform ?
I just called it ledge hanging because I didn’t know.
