Connect it to a speed modifier. The settings are
(Vending Machine) Item Purchased -> (Speed Modifier) Set player to configured speed

You have to have it Transmit on channel though, not Grant Item
I did how you say and this is what i have
The item image is case sensitive, type “icons/Speed” exactly.
