ok, so i just finished stage on of rent, and before i start stage 2, i want to know how you guys play. i have always played monopoly so if you do not want the lot, then nothing happens. but i have heard my friends say that they auction it off if you dont want to buy it, and the money goes to the bank. what is the correct way?

Here’s Hasbro’s official input: If you do not wish to buy the property, the Banker sells it at auction to the highest bidder. The buyer pays the Bank the amount of the bid in cash and receives the Title Deed card for that property. Any player, including the one who declined the option to buy it at the printed price, may bid.
