Yeah, I think BH said something about that last year. Because they’d just win again over and over again…
Oh. Forget what I just said earlier.

@Halloween_Coster that was the whole point, to prank wywy
by the way, can participants publish old maps from last year? as far as i know yes, but i just want to make sure
@unstable, @sirwywy asks you to review his post, he can’t do it himself because he already pinged your name in his post, and he can’t do it twice
here’s his post
Best Dungeon-Style Game? Or maybe that would fall under adventure? IDK!!! (also congrats on being Leader rank, Unstable!) (oop topic closed ): )
This topic is temporarily closed for at least 4 hours due to a large number of community flags.
I unfortunately cannot deal with them, so it will most likely be a good few days before this is sorted out.
-Unstable
I had a whole small rant about this in the last topic, it’s near the bottom if you want to see it, basically a best platformer category would be too pay-to-win for me to consider it.
None of the above, just overall best in the community’s opinion. The gimkit awards are not won because of statistics, they’re won because people think you’re good at what you do, or because they think your map is worth playing.
Absolutely not. As I said, that was last year’s categories. Seemingly very few people actually read the post, but just scrolled to the list. Typical, and what I should’ve expected, but I thought more of some of you.
This post is actually asking what you guys want changed out of that list, or added, or removed… check above.
Exactly. Statistics mean nothing, as long as you make content that people enjoy.
Kinda too obscure, I think? If we get more suggestions for something like this, then I’ll consider it.
Unironically kinda good. Maybe s’more genres, like best action/puzzle game?
I think we would shorten this down to best technician, because ‘best coder’ would have an obvious winner, regardless of what the category is about. Again, I like the idea!
Fine, I’ll quote my thing again. Ahem;
Best gimmick, basically? I wouldn’t be opposed to it, so, I’ll run it by the team later.
I like the concept on paper, but in practice, this just is too similar to “Best Game” or something similar to where there might as well not be a difference.
I did actually use this for what it’s worth, I can see it as not providing to the topic, but frankly I think being flagged was a bit much considering how useful this was for me.
Rip all of you, too bad you all decided that screaming “THIS ISN’T FLAGWORTHY SO STAWP” is actually something on topic (it isn’t) and that proclaiming that something is or isn’t flagworthy is on topic (it isn’t), and at that, posting about moving past prior off topic conversations was on topic (take a wild guess! It isn’t)
Anyways, too late for me to try to explain how to act to all of you, huh…?
Moving on!
No. No they are not. All of last years winners and people who moved to the final vote are and will be disqualified.
Read prior. It applies to maps, too.
Read my rant on how that is flag worthy! Also, I’m flagging this. It’s flag worthy.
Sorry that took me so long, I got busy, and then I wasn’t, and by the time I wasn’t busy I simply entirely forgot this existed. It happens, y’know?
Oh, and if I missed your suggestion, mention me in it. It should work, so I should be able to respond.
I don’t necessarily dislike the idea of any of these categories, not even remotely, but I feel like we could have better classifications for all of these? I dunno, I’d love to see what you all think when twofour gets back.
Did I seriously not reply to this? I swear, I had something written out in that first post, I checked over it twice to make sure I worded it correctly…
Anyways, yeah. If we rename it… When we rename it, it’ll probably look something like this. Generally, that’s how I was planning to do it, but I wanted to see if people wanted it outright removed beforehand.
Well… I have nothing else to do on the forums for a while…
Mention me in posts if they need closed after a solution is found / if there is a solution but it needs marked. I don’t particularly mind doing so, just don’t expect me to be too terribly quick in doing so.
I actually already did, I dunno if they saw it, I just didn’t quote anything they said because my reply applied to all of the suggestions.
@SirWyWy Here’s your reply, sorry that you didn’t see it!
I’m just going to quote & reply the ones that I think are worth bringing up, any others you can assume I’d just say no to.
I said something about this with the “Best Gimmick” thing a day or two ago, or whenever I said that. Thanksgiving break has everything blurring together.
In theory, this is the exact same as “Best Educational Game”. In practice, it might not be, but probably would be.
I would just reword this to “Most Speedrunable” because convenience, but overall I think this could have a chance of being used.
It seems as if you all misunderstand, so just for clarification, you’re probably not getting credit if you give us an idea for a category. Not saying this in a malicious way, but more of a “The credits are exclusively for people who directly worked on the project, otherwise it’d end up looking like actual credits, which would look cool I guess, but would be super inconvinient and would just [Every adjective I tried to use here was censored, basic idea is “knockout”] the iPad raised children part of the gimkit fanbase” kinda way.
wohoo, posting on the forums at 12:26 AM
TwoFourSixEight Is back on the forums, so this post should be unlocked soon enough. I asked him to hold off for a little while, but I believe it’s time for this post to come back.
@twofoursixeight, couldja give us a hand here?
we’re so back
WE NEED YOUR SUGGESTIONS! NOW!
Is the custom gim idea okay?
All due respect, not like even remotely sure what you’re referring to
It was in post 27. I had an idea that you can make your own custom gim.
i would say that idea fits more into the category fanart.
she sounds like she knows what she’s talking about, listen to her
Will there be a category for best demo/coolest mechanics, like @Blackhole927’s graphing calculator and the top-down platformer(GimJumper) that broke the limits of Gimkit?
