Edit: @Unstable, I have some ideas for you. Please tell me what you think!

  1. Maybe do something like the Gimkit feedback site, where people can upvote suggested category ideas. You could give a month or so and go from there.
  2. Create a contest to get a website designed for the awards. You can give criteria, and give 1 month to build a site. This can allow Gimkitters to give you some good choices (I bet that a lot of people on Gimkit’s platforms are good at that stuff), which you can choose from. :desktop_computer:

My idea:
Make your own custom gim!
Requirements:

  1. Need a name for the gim
  2. Make a little quote
  3. Which rarity is it?
  4. And what made up collection is it from?
  5. How many Gimbucks is it?
When you are done, take a screenshot of the gim and all of the info.
Then you can enter it and hopefully yours gets voted for best custom gim!!

I have three ideas

  • Best Co-op game
  • Best FFA game
  • Best solo game

Alr @Unstable again
I just realized I could’ve edited my other post…
Oh well…

What about the category “best educational game”?
I’m pretty sure there’s games out there that relate more to education than just having a questioner.

ex.
Battle reenactments, math games, graphing calculator, models of famous buildings, etc.

Very wise words. I’m hoping some of my current games could win, but just in case I’m gonna start cramming bc I’m gonna try to make some new ones. lol

Unstable

Okay, that’s fair. I can’t deny it. If you want any more of my great (good-ish) ideas, you know where to find me (ping me, lol).

Also, I’m writing up a post now to mention this exciting news. Yay! ;)

Woohoo!
The gimkit awards are finally here! (I know I’m a bit late)

I’m sorry if someone has already asked this but are winners from last year allowed to win again this year?
If so, do they get a disadvantage?

Yes. There is no disadvantage.
I think so…

Nope. Winners from last year are automatically ineligible
At least I think so

Yeah, I think BH said something about that last year. Because they’d just win again over and over again…

Oh. Forget what I just said earlier.

Best Dungeon-Style Game? Or maybe that would fall under adventure? IDK!!! (also congrats on being Leader rank, Unstable!) (oop topic closed ): )

This topic is temporarily closed for at least 4 hours due to a large number of community flags.

I unfortunately cannot deal with them, so it will most likely be a good few days before this is sorted out.
-Unstable

I had a whole small rant about this in the last topic, it’s near the bottom if you want to see it, basically a best platformer category would be too pay-to-win for me to consider it.

None of the above, just overall best in the community’s opinion. The gimkit awards are not won because of statistics, they’re won because people think you’re good at what you do, or because they think your map is worth playing.

Absolutely not. As I said, that was last year’s categories. Seemingly very few people actually read the post, but just scrolled to the list. Typical, and what I should’ve expected, but I thought more of some of you.

This post is actually asking what you guys want changed out of that list, or added, or removed… check above.

Exactly. Statistics mean nothing, as long as you make content that people enjoy.

Kinda too obscure, I think? If we get more suggestions for something like this, then I’ll consider it.

Unironically kinda good. Maybe s’more genres, like best action/puzzle game?

I think we would shorten this down to best technician, because ‘best coder’ would have an obvious winner, regardless of what the category is about. Again, I like the idea!

Fine, I’ll quote my thing again. Ahem;

Best gimmick, basically? I wouldn’t be opposed to it, so, I’ll run it by the team later.

I like the concept on paper, but in practice, this just is too similar to “Best Game” or something similar to where there might as well not be a difference.

I did actually use this for what it’s worth, I can see it as not providing to the topic, but frankly I think being flagged was a bit much considering how useful this was for me.

Rip all of you, too bad you all decided that screaming “THIS ISN’T FLAGWORTHY SO STAWP” is actually something on topic (it isn’t) and that proclaiming that something is or isn’t flagworthy is on topic (it isn’t), and at that, posting about moving past prior off topic conversations was on topic (take a wild guess! It isn’t)
Anyways, too late for me to try to explain how to act to all of you, huh…?

Moving on!

No. No they are not. All of last years winners and people who moved to the final vote are and will be disqualified.

Read prior. It applies to maps, too.

Read my rant on how that is flag worthy! Also, I’m flagging this. It’s flag worthy.

Sorry that took me so long, I got busy, and then I wasn’t, and by the time I wasn’t busy I simply entirely forgot this existed. It happens, y’know?
Oh, and if I missed your suggestion, mention me in it. It should work, so I should be able to respond.

I don’t necessarily dislike the idea of any of these categories, not even remotely, but I feel like we could have better classifications for all of these? I dunno, I’d love to see what you all think when twofour gets back.

Did I seriously not reply to this? I swear, I had something written out in that first post, I checked over it twice to make sure I worded it correctly…
Anyways, yeah. If we rename it… When we rename it, it’ll probably look something like this. Generally, that’s how I was planning to do it, but I wanted to see if people wanted it outright removed beforehand.

Well… I have nothing else to do on the forums for a while…

Mention me in posts if they need closed after a solution is found / if there is a solution but it needs marked. I don’t particularly mind doing so, just don’t expect me to be too terribly quick in doing so.

I actually already did, I dunno if they saw it, I just didn’t quote anything they said because my reply applied to all of the suggestions.
@SirWyWy Here’s your reply, sorry that you didn’t see it!
