Basically, we’re going to do a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section, and I’ll answer whatever questions you have that aren’t on our FAQ. If your question is on the FAQ, I will both be rather angry that you decided to not read this post, shame on you, I spend a good chunk of time writing these (this has taken 10 minutes already, mostly because I got distracted), but secondly, I will not answer it a second time. I’ve had to repeat myself so much, I’m sure you can understand. Probably still going to have to repeat myself several times, but I also need to shut up because I’ve made this first paragraph go on far long enough.
FAQ STARTS BELOW!
Who even are you? Why are you a leader? Why are you here?
1- Hi! I’m Unstable, You could call me James or Jessica if you were someone I liked, and I’m your favorite freak! You’ll come to know me and my strange personality somewhat well if you follow the awards and it’s topics closely.
2- Originally, this was so I could fully manage the gimkit awards myself. Unfortunantly, I can’t deal with flags, so I’m operating at like half volume, meaning I’m doing about half as much as I could.
3- Mind your own business. Nah, I’m kidding, partially, I’m here to just get the community engaged in something that would actually be beneficial instead of tearing each other down for the… goodness knows how many times that’s happened.
When are the gimkit awards?
The gimkit awards will be happening in April of 2025.
What are the requirements?
There are no requirements necessarily, you will only need to be someone/have made a map that fits one or more of the categories. Is that in it of itself a requirement? Maybe, probably not.
How/Where do I vote?
We will have some system on some website (our decision on how we’re going to host voting and submissions is not final) and we will have links to it in both the discord and on the forums, with potentially more platforms also getting support depending on what the team can do. I will update this if we can officially support more platforms.
What are the submissions? How do I get my map/myself nominated?
To get this out of the way, submissions and nominations are, at least for the awards, the same thing. We will have a nomination phase of the event in April, likely the first week, where you can nominate maps/people to win an award. Everyone with a certain amount of nominations (Which will be determined based on a per-category basis and will likely change heavily depending on the amount of people nominating themselves) will move on to the final vote. The final vote will determine who wins and who does not.
What do the winners get?
Technically, that much is not 100% confirmed, though I can basically guarantee that it’ll be the same system for prizes as last year, which was the following:
First place- 5000 Gimbucks
Second place- 3000 Gimbucks
Third place- 1000 Gimbucks
Everyone else who made it to the final vote but did not get enough votes will not win a prize. Sorry folks.
Will any of this be seen in the actual official gimkit website?
No. There won’t be anything showcasing who won, nothing showing who participated, nothing even acknowledging that the awards exist. The staff said that would be too much work, and I can abide by that decision.
Can the same person/map win multiple awards?
As of right now, yes, though at the time of writing this I’m running it by the team to change this over to a no.
Depending on what we decide, this queston’s answer may change. I will remove this section of text if the response stays the same, and if it doesn’t, then obviously the answer will change. You should check back here at some point, to see what the answer ended up being.
Why are platformer maps disqualified?
Platformers have been a paid feature since march. That’s around nine (9)months of being paid, more accurately about eight and a half (8 ½). After they become free for everyone, they’ll have been a free feature for just about five (5) months. That’s just blatantly pay to win for the gimkit awards in my eyes, and I’m not down for that.
Who all is working on this?
Well outside of me, here’s your list!
More FAQ questions are bound to be written, so you should check back here every once in a while.
