Custom lighting with barriers!

I made some custom lighting for my game. You basically put a barrier on the top layer, disable collision and make it transparent. Then change it to your color of choice! If you want darkness, you can make it black. Or maybe a light blue if it’s a cold area, or orange if it’s hot. I thought this was neat enough to share.

Here are some examples of this lighting:

Have fun with this neat little idea. It’s not too complex but definitely helps set the mood

You’ll have to remove this. This is advertising which is not allowed here.

Really cool use of barriers though, I like it! This might be a Community Made Guides, but for now, I would leave it in devices. Welcome to the forums!

Using a blue barrier would be great for underwater scenes!

WOW you layered your terrain!!! :star_struck:

Haha, I do have a water area, but if you try to walk in you just respawn. The killfeed says “(player) drowned”

Also, I accidentally marked a reply as an answer. Whoops. Guess the post is getting locked in 3 hours

I think you should explain that it has to have this setting off

Welcome to the forums, NuggetTheLobotomite! I hope you enjoy your time here! Nice guides, but I would suggest more explaining. It’s a little too short to be a guide, maybe make it longer and add more description on what abd how you did it! I understand cuz you’re new, but okay guide!

Right! Rookie mistake

Also welcome to the forums this was impressive!

Hey thanks man! Didn’t realize how active this place is  a lot more active than most of my discord servers

Oh yeah, there are some really active users, lol! Again, welcome to the forums! Maybe fill out your bio! (I just saw you did!)

Thanks! I’ve been building for just over a year now. I browsed the forums for a few months but that was on my school chromebook, so I could only see posts. This is where I learned that repeaters are dogcrap and making moving objects is way too complex for my own good

Nice guide! I have used these techniques in my maps before, but I am glad someone made a post about it! You don’t want it too transparent, so I normally put them at 0.2-0.3. This is pretty helpful to those who are newer to GKC! Also, welcome to the forums! (You missed Blackhole by about 2 weeks :frowning: )

Welcome to the forums!
Here are some tips from me, personally.

  1. Remember to mark a solution if your question has been answered! But if it hasn’t, don’t let people say MARK A SOLUTION MARK A SOLUTION! Only mark a solution when you have solved the problem
  2. Regulars aren’t any “better” or “smarter” or “more right” than non-regulars. I find it annoying that people always say things like “regulars can edit only” and such. While they do have more experience, that experience isn’t necessarily more important than those from non-regulars. Do listen to them for rules on how to behave, but they aren’t at all necessarily better at gkc.
  3. No off topic. Stay on topic. I was one of the first people on the forums, and on the original forums we were pretty lenient on off topicness. So when we migrated to the new one, someone started a post which quickly became a chat room, and no one told anyone to stop because no one really cared, however, we suffered consequences from the moderators. This was big, and I was one of the people affected, with a long silence. I don’t want that to happen to anyone else by accident.
  4. No advertising. This is a pretty big deal, if you have to ask yourself if something is advertising it probably is.
  5. Don’t comment on a guide just to say “cool guide”. Make sure you have something to contribute if posting. Otherwise, it’s just clutter. If you don’t have anything to say besides cool guide, then just like the guide. Simple.

Well, you’ll probably hear a lot more from other people, so I might as well stop yapping. Enjoy your stay!
