Fork of this topic: Detecting Double Jumps?
Is there a way to create a similar dash mechanic to Celeste’s in GKC? Unfortunately the speed modifier doesn’t work mid-air.

A sentry cannon, featuring activating a sentry with max aim right behind you, and deactivating soon after.
How would you be able to get that cannon beside you? Also it doesn’t seem directional friendly. Seems like you could only dash in one direction in a specific range.
You don’t. But you can put it in a spot with a slingshot where it can hit you and boost you. Maybe?
Maybe add a certain point where players can dash in the air and create corresponding barriers, so the speed is still effective.
I think that the speed modifier works midair if it slows you down, but that doesn’t help you.
Could you activate a barrier to create land to allow the speed-up, apply the speed-up, and remove the land? You could do those three in a fraction of a second.
It’s annoying to place the barrier exactly under the player, though…
hi clicclac :3
With the pretty low barrier limit in place. I don’t think using that would be ideal to recreate the first chapter of Celeste
Could you make like a dedicated spot that you could dash at, lowering the required amount?[1]
idk how Celeste works ↩︎
Especially since you need so many decorations for the city too, barriers could be helpful.
That’s not part of the game, but you could improvise. [1]
Ha I did the ClicClac thing
Side note: How would change between the dash directions mid-air? ↩︎
That’s a decent idea.
Currently I’m thinking if it’s possible to just spawn a sentry in relation to the player’s direction and use fragility. Is that possible?
This is the part where the double jump detector comes into play. Once it detects a double jump, it spawns that barrier to “dash” or that’s what I’d imagine.
(I might’ve missed something in a new update) Wouldn’t you need a sentry everywhere then? And wouldn’t that leave the possibility of it not firing?
You could teleport it but the method would still probably be really inconsistent. [1]
Made ya click (clac) ↩︎
I doubt that a high magazine of several gadgets would be a worry. We can also just manually increase the fragility through a damager. For sentries everywhere, that’s an interesting problem.
