I am in the process of creating a game on Gimkit that revolves around players selecting an arsenal of gadgets from a provided list and engaging in combat on a map until the time limit expires. The player with the highest number of knockouts at the end of the match will be declared the winner. I am considering implementing ‘seasons’ that span from the beginning to the end of each month, as well as ‘events’ to commemorate specific days throughout the year. The game will feature a top-down view, aligning it with the io-like 2D game genre.
Some key features I plan to incorporate include:
Purchasable Upgrades: Players will be able to purchase upgrades during the match that enhance attributes such as speed and health.
Modifiers: These will introduce additional challenges to increase the difficulty of the game.
Event Maps: In addition to a default map, each season and event will have its own unique, limited-edition map.
I would like to brainstorm ideas for events, taking into account that player avatars, are determined by their Gimkit gims and the gadgets available are limited to the gadgets provided within the Gimkit Creative platform.
If you may, please provide any tips for anything that could be of help, as i have very low experience on gimkit creative. Much Obliged!
P.S. I also understand that Updating Maps requires that i change the terrain monthly and such. However, i would be glad to hear your ideas and oppinions!
Thanks, butsince its a little late for x-mas i was planning a spring-themed default map for a starter. got any tips for in-game cosmetics, a name for the game, etc?
Kind of like a lush, green forest. Instead of med-kits, players must knock out some type of prop to gain health and/or shield HP. They are given a basic, randomized starting inventory containing a rare pickaxe, a light-damage gadget and a heavy-damage gadget.
hmm ok that, i can work with. do you have systems for the stuff you just mentioned? i can work on those if you want and ill make you some forest ideas.(im good with prop decor)
I haven’t even really opened the project yet really i just wanted to get tips for it before i started, only to learn i hardly know enough to grant myself capable of making the game and editing it each month.
so basically a pvp right?
modifiers could include dmg boost (hard core)
or insta knockout (start at 1% hp but when in other modes it grants full hp upon respawn using true false/or number props)
speed boosts I wouldn’t recommend unless you balance it wisely because people zooming around with portal blasters and evil eyes are not exactly fun and would make it the best gadget in game automatically
and you could make layable trap mines (which are totally possible and easy btw to do about anywhere) and make it so when a player gets hit they drop an invisible mine making it more chaos because of having to remember and avoid the mines while focusing on the other team (I have more where that came from but I’ma put it in a different reply)
