Any Way to Copy a Base Game?

Hey! I am a teacher that is currently teaching in Japan and I need some help!

I really love this website. Many many teachers I show it are extremely impressed with not only the quality, but the customizability of the games on display. That being said, I have a huge question!

We have spent a few months struggling to add new games to the rotation of games because the rules for the 2D games are a little difficult to explain to students who don’t fully understand English. That being said, it sometimes serves as a teaching opportunity, but trying to teach students who are unable to read English all the areas, rules, and fish types in Fishtopia is incredibly difficult if not impossible given my 45 minute classes.

Big Question as the Title Suggests:
Is there any way for me to be able to copy an already made game by the gimkit crew just to edit the language on signs and popups? I can manually remake Fishtopia but the amount of hours it would take is immense, and many of the special images/props/signs aren’t available for everyone to use. Essentially, the best I can do is make a vastly inferior product when I want them to be able to play the normal game just in their native language.

Any ideas or possibilities would be well received! Thank you!!

Do you mean to copy one of the games that shows up when you play a kit?

If so, I don’t believe you can do that. You can probably copy making them in Creative, but that can take a lot of time. You might be able to switch the language to Japanese, but I’m not sure!

I know there are game remakes of the exact thing in discovery. I’m not sure who made these exact replicas, but it does take a lot of work.

Yeah, sadly I think I will be spending a few weekends with coffee to remake some games for the students it seems like. Unfortunate, but it is worth it to have them enjoy studying.

Oh really? Hmmm I will probably try to check them out tomorrow morning at work to see if I can replicate them, or hunt for some tutorials on certain systems I am having trouble with.

I would think they are all in English though. :frowning:

This is giving me the idea of making a language setting for my Bedwars game

Another thing you could do (if you use Google site to run gimkit) Is translate the whole site. It won’t translate certain parts

(Like shown in the text in the corner) but, it would translate the buttons and the Pop-Ups.

That is okay! I speak English well enough, so I can watch helpful videos online to maybe change overlay text/signs to Japanese instead of English.

Many thanks!:man_bowing:

Yes, good idea! I use this option for Tycoon/many games with no characters, but sadly, the signs are still in English. I am very grateful for the extra ideas and screenshots though! For now, this is maybe the best option.

Thank you for your hard work :dizzy:

I don’t know if somebody said this, but using GKC, you could recreate Fishtopia yourself (if you had the time) and put the text in Japanese yourself This is a very helpful guide to do that:

as far as I understand, the problem is that the students don’t understand English, try translating the whole page, it will help you a lot (into your language)

also as far as I know, you can’t transfer the whole map, BUT you can redo it, and make some changes

if I made a mistake somewhere, tell me

here you go, there are a few things below that I can help you with (even with page translation)

also I’m very glad that you write in Japanese (Japanese right?)

but languages other than English are prohibited on forums, since it’s difficult to moderate in several languages at the same time

Edit: oh, is the topic solved? I told you that a translator is a complicated thing lol, I wrote an answer, and everything is already done, okay, I’m leaving
