Any ideas for a horror game

You could base it around a phobia, for example like automatonophobia, the phobia of of human-like figures, including automatons, robots, animatronics, wax figures, mannequins, and dummies. (For example, sentries.)

I like that. maybe when you enter a zone they spawn nearby and open fire.

@Kormorant this is really long so go grab yourself a snack
I kind of made a whole guide

Kormorant

First of all let’s get this cleared up.

I am not saying that it is actual AI, because that is kind of crazy. I want the player to feel like that it is AI that’s trapping them, it’s kind of like manipulation.

So this is basically manipulating the player. not AI

So whatever I said about AI, throw it out of the window. Doesn’t really matter for what I am explaining to you know

I hope that clears up any trouble that you had about AI and stuff. Because I totally agree you can’t make AI in Gimkit, its just not possible. But manipulating AI is possible. It’s going to take a lot of work to make it happen but it makes the thrill of the game.

And how to make the thrill happen? By creating this manipulative system that seems like AI that can change what the player thinks.
Click the drop-down to learn more on the concept of how to create an AI.

Serious

Now let’s get into the more complex parts of what I actually mean.

Lets just say that there will be only a certain set of actions you can take, like 3 or 4. You can always add more actions but this is for example. The more actions you take the more memory it takes.
(Remember that if you are planning out your map)

But for now let’s do a simple amount, like 2.
You’re going in a hallway that has 2 ways to go. like left or right. When you take left for example, there is already a set type of code ready for the player, for example if you enter this zone, the AI(manipulation) talks to you by a popup. Also if the player presses a button something changes in the environment, like a barrel of water opens.

But like @Blackjack said you would need to make it unpredictable. Making sure it’s completely random. Which means you need a couple of brains who think differently.

So I recommend doing this with a partner or a group of people. Someone who can think out of the box.

You can code the players every move and make sure there are no errors in the map, if the player can somehow escape the AI(Manipulation) the map was made wrong.
This means that you would need to take at least some effort into this. Not a 5 minute put-together.

This can be translated into a horror game because at random times you can get jumpscares. AI(Manipulation) can make it like a haunting feeling that you are getting watched.

A basic Lore can be that you’re a detective assigned to be solving this case of the abandoned laboratory. There are some rumors that there are mysterious noises/voices coming from the building. So you investigate it, but then you slowly start getting possessed by the AI as it learns about the players family @ problems by the way you are moving. But somehow the player manages to destr0y the AI. (however the map builder wants to)

BTW

You can totally use this for your map
But remember this is very memory consuming.

KEY:

@: The AI doesn’t know the real person’s family who is playing the character. The character’s background is set before, (maybe something about his little sister)
The player already knows about this by the time they enter the abandoned laboratory.

moving: This is already set because every move is set by the code, like I said before.

I hope you understand what I am talking about.

I recommend checking the gimkit-beginners tag out if you’re looking for simple tutorials on the GKC interface!

Here is another extremely useful guide for learning GKC (ty mono for this w guide)

almost all of these core guides don’t have pictures anymore :sob:

Maybe a smoke room? Or a smoke jumpscare? And also a security room, in case you want a FNAF mode.

I think for horror you should make a game where you use sleep trauma famous the boiled one. Just saying, it looks creepy.

ooo yea or just make one based on analog in general

What if you add jumpscares?

I added this one cuz i helped in it and can explain stuff.
Plus, no-pictures

Minimize jump scares but make them still common, the part that scares people is them not wanting to activate the jump scare, that’s where the nightmare fuel happens…
unless your me who has played doors for too long that all jump scares are not terrifying no more… (yet Timothy gets me)

Add nothing scary. Just give them a HUGE (like I mean GIANT) map to wander. Like maybe a mall or a hotel, and then add a timer in the top left corner that’s like 10-20 minutes long (enough time to explore most but not all of the map). Then, when the timer hits 0:00, tell them (a pop-up or something) it’s time to wake up. When they click “Yes,” the game ends.

Wait I’ma actually make a game with this idea XD
