WIKI Of Platforming Editing Tips!

Introduction

Hi, I’m making a wiki full of tips on editing in Platformer, as Platformer has just released! if you want to help out, check the wiki rules first, then (once you have permission from me) you can edit.

Tips

Tip 1: Place Devices in the terrain

now when I say devices I mean ones like this

ones that don’t need player collision to activate, the reason you place them in terrain is so that while editing you won’t collide with them (trust me it can get annoying). This also clears up space.
Or just switch your collision off! Turn it back on when needed.

Tip 2: Add teleporters at the start of your map, and make them teleport you to specific parts of your map

This is VERY helpful, it makes it so you don’t have to search your ENTIRE map just to find one little jump you need to fix or a section that needs improvement. Or you can make control rooms, where you put devices in the same system in a group. This clears up space and can help you focus on more things.

Tip 3: Add a no-collision barrier all over your map

Now, the reason for this is so that you can make a good background later on, this is because platforming doesn’t have backgrounds as of writing this. The red moon sky in Surrendering to Despair is nice. You can take a look. This is one of the most vital things for getting plays!

Tip 4: ALWAYS make your map with the double jump in mind.

As of this writing, there is currently no option to disable the double jump until you can adapt your map with the double jump in mind. Try this. It makes your game more fun and challenging.

Tip 5: Make. A. Lobby.
REALLY an issue these days. Even the “Sigma Skibidi Alpha” platformers (yes, NoLife has been curious). You can play the game… without playing the game. :exploding_head:
Or not, if it uses devices. Mostly it’s “Only Up” or DLD, but even SSJ doesn’t have a closed lobby.
Close. Your. Lobbies.

Cool wiki!!!

remember that if you want to edit you ask me, do NOT check the checkmark without me giving you promission to edit, don’t even do it for fun. (it can make someones edits nulified and they have to start over, not good!)

Bump! (its been a day, don’t worry)

I haven’t seen any covering editing specifically, more so how to improve the gameplay. this guide is giving you Tips to make editing easier.

Hmm good point.

I didn’t know what was happening bc I’ve never used a wiki on gimkit

Hey, @Fleet, could I add to the explanations of the current tips, and the actual checkbox?
There ain’t no checkbox…
I have 1 more tip too!
Tip 5: Make a lobby!
This is really an issue because you can just play the game… without giving it plays. Besides, if you do that, none of the systems work. So you can’t respawn. It’s really annoying. Make a lobby and close it. It’s just better for plays overall.

still fleet I’m sorry I don’t know how to use this

so I’m sorry wont happen again

@Slaxy, stop editing. I almost lost an unsaved draft. Didn’t you see the checked box?

EDIT: You don’t have to edit and then scroll, scroll without the editing window. There was an error saying someone else was editing, and I had to override it.

isnt the box supposed to be checked?

Look up. It’s not supposed to be, since no one is editing.
