What difficulty is your platformer level? A simple guide to picking and ordering the right difficulties

Have you ever made a difficulty chart? chances are yes most people have or at least have played one they have become very popular and I could not find a guide for picking the difficulty just a few people asking under Help and not getting good responses. So let’s begin!

effortless

Every map starts with effortless and it will look something like this

that’s all I can say about it other than "a slightly slanted line that you can walk up.

easy

Easy level has a few simple jumps usually with basic shapes and deffinetly no slope jumps or any circles it just a warmup :slightly_smiling_face:

medium

very easy but has more ways to fall and jumps get a little farther apart.

hard/difficult

here you might have your first slope jump make sure to have a guide on how so beginners don’t get confused also lasers becoming more frequent and a few harder jumps start appearing

extreme

LOTS OF HARD JUMPS like

  • Head hitters
  • slope jumps
  • anything with lasers
  • these ones that I don’t know the name of

and that picture says it all :winking_face_with_tongue:
Nightmare

Circle slope jumps get introduced and longer jumps too [make sure the player knows where to jump] players should find themselves in crazy hard jumps that will take time to get good at.

gimpossible

Alright this will usually have invisible jumps or my personal favorite (and it can be in any level) choose a path jumps some will have lasers right away but others go on for a while all to… have you give up or trek your way back

some of my screenshots were from a diff chart on discovery (not going to say the name)
cause my map was in the process of being updated.
hope you like this guide!!!

Good guide, don’t show the name of the game though because you can get flagged for advertising…

Also, @bakedpotato i agree, grammar could use some work plus detail it up a little bit.

You should start using some more periods!

No need for a full formal tone and everything (no one likes a guide that sounds like a corporate email), just basic grammar, punctuation and capitalization.

The only jumps you included this one are barriers. Maybe try mixing some props in there, too? (Stacking some blackboard legs make great slope-style jumps)

@SuffyPro97 check your “full name” thing and then check mine >:3

This seems very… simple? Is that the right word?

It’s extremely short, not to mention vague, with only a sentence or two per dropdown.
The spelling and grammar are all over the place, with proper grammar only included in a few sentences.

The Help topics being made that could have been related to this are about hard jumps, which we already have a wiki for, and that this guide barely includes.

The explanation of an “Effortless” level isn’t very accurate, either-- many Difficulty-Chart styled maps I’ve played use gaps that can be walked over, a single straight barrier, or just very simple, easy jumps.

In addition to everything else, you used a super-long title without proper capitalization.

I just think that this doesn’t have the right amount of helpful, detailed content to be considered a good guide.

  1. the title sounds ai
  2. this guide seems very simple
  3. the screenshots you provided look like very easy jumps
  4. circle slope jumps are the same as normal slope jumps, they aren’t harder so they can be introduced earlier
  5. difficulty charts suck, we don’t need more added
  6. there’s more but you get the point

sorry I realize that now

really there my favorite game

I really like diff charts ngl, but @Duckie could you add harder jumps in the pics, because these jumps are simple, and the gimpossible one doesn’t look as intimidating as it should.
