Theft problem on GKC

Theft of thumbnails is becoming a bigger and bigger problem on GKC by the minute, it is having a domino effect on other creators making them think it is okay to steal thumbnails.

As long as your Doors game has a original thumbnail (with the exception of the creator giving you permission to use said thumbnail) you should be fine for the most part.

Another problem is reusing thumbnails without permission of the creators, a few months ago a user asked for a thumbnail and artists delivered. That user has since left the forums and it seems that they left GKC in total. Now their game & thumbnail has no protection.

We need to do something about this.

For now, just email hello@gimkit.com with the offending thumbnails and they will take it down.

@NoNoWahoo is right, other than that there’s not really much we can do (that I’m aware of). It’s kinda like the whole free builds thing in a way (not much we can do besides emailing Gimkit)

the problem is that they reoffend. they just repost their map once it is taken down.

There is nothing we can do. Stop bringing it up. If you are really that concerened email gimkit 'bout it.

I do email them about it, ive emailed them dozens of times about different maps.

May memory may be incorrect but I think one of them just reoffended

Was that doors thumbnail taken form the internet?

Probably.

If I was you, I would just report them again (Gimkit might give them a longer punishment?)

Idk if this counted as thumbnail theft. 1 idk if the original photo of doors was from the internet. 1: one of it added a tiny text to the original photo while the other didn’t. I couldn’t really say they are stealing thumbnails if the original photos are a public domain.

Right.

The Community Guidelines cleary state that you aren’t allowed to use copyrighted (trademarked?) photos, which that photo is.

well we ought to figure out this problem somehow

maybe if a buttload of us email Gimkit its ought to get their attention

I found it on the internet……
I put the image into a reverse image search engine and I found out it was the thumbnail of a YouTube video.

yes but flooding is a little too strong of a word of what I mean

Oh let’s reverse that. We all email hello@gimkit.com so they remove the bad maps
