The Ultimate Guide to Deltarune [ đź“ś ]

Intro: We ran into the curses of the character limit so I separated Deltarune from Undertale!

Disclaimer:

the OP isnt active as of writing this. they have put me in charge of accepting people to edit, so if you want to edit, ask permission from me.- Fleet.

Deltarune is a spiritually successor to Undertale[1] In this game you play as Kris, exploring Dark Worlds with your buddies Susie and Ralsei[2]. However here your choices don’t matter. All endings are the same no matter what[3]Hmm, what was that? Okay, phew lets jumps in!

Side Note:
If you see :warning: on a section, that means it’s being worked on by somebody else! Don’t work on these sections or edit somebody else’s work!!! If you see a :stop_sign: on a section, that means it has nothing in it! Feel free to work on this sections AFTER READING THE WIKI RULES!!!

This section will include terrain/props to make the following areas from Deltarune:

Chapter 1: Cliffs
Chapter 1: Fields
Chapter 1: Forests
Chapter 1: The Great Chess Board
Chapter 1: Castle
Chapter 2: Cyber Field
Chapter 2: Trash Zone
Chapter 2: Cyber City
Chapter 2: Mansion
Castle Town
Hometown
⚠️ Enemies ⚠️

In this section you will make a enemy encounter randomizer, the turn-based attack system, and bosses.

Enemy Encounter
⚠️ Turn-based Encounter System ⚠️

Welcome to the battle system! there are many mechanics that set this one apart from the others, and that’s the fact that you control 3 separate characters in the battle, you have kris, this will be the leader and the gim you control outside the battles. Ralsei[4], is the magic guy, he will cast spells such as pacify and heal prayer, he doesn’t like violence so he hits softer than all of the group, and finally we have Susie, the ax wielder, hitting the hardest. before we begin I’ll have to mention that this takes A LOT of wires, so I’d recommend organizing that way you don’t make a mess of wires and get confused.

the materials used are as follows:

actually, nevermind this guide is a bit to big to have a materials section.

First make a room like this

and place a trigger, and set it so that when it recieves on “Teleport Back to make decision”

then place a teleporter like in the image, set it so that you teleport there when recieving on “Teleport Back to make decision” this channel is broadcasted on during these events, Battle Start, After Dodging, you get teleported here but not from this channel, this is for the enemy dialogue before they attack. now also make the trigger have a delay of 4 seconds, and it brodcasts on “Kris Action” when triggered, “Wait what? multiple character actions?” the reason we set this up, while yes the characters other than Kris don’t usually select their action when recieving on a channel, we will still make every character a channel because unlike Undertale, when your downed you can be revived by one of your other characters. and I feel this is obvious but, when someone is unconscious, like they are when downed in battle, I don’t think you can tell them to do something and expect it to get done.

now in Deltarune there are more than the 4 actions, there are 5 now per character

the new action for everyone is

:shield: DEFEND

Now, when this action is done, if you get hit while dodge you take less damage.

now for Ralsei and Susie, they cant use Act. this is because when Kris acts, he can command his party members to act, so instead they get

:fire:MAGIC

They can do magic spells at the cost of TP or tension points. the spells ralsei can cast are Pacify, Which if an enemy is tired, it spares them, even if there name isn’t yellow. and Heal Prayer, which heals one of your teamates. Susie gets Rude Buster, which is an attack that does a lot of damage at the cost of a lot of TP. Now that I’ve gone over the changes to the Abilities that the player can choose, lets get into setting this up!

  • Did someone say my name?

Uhm perhaps? depends on what your name is however.

  • My name is Ralsei! I’ve heard it multiple times in this post, however this part of the post made me curious.

oh then I did! I guess you can tag along.

Anyways back to what I was saying lets get this created!

first make 3 boxed rooms that look like this

(note: the text in the top left corner is so the player knows what character they are choosing the action for)

for the teleporter make it teleport there on receiving on “[character name here] Action”

  • Is that about acting? Let me tell you about it, acting allows enemies to be-

Ralsei, I appreciate the enthusiasm but someone else already covered acting at the top of the post, you can however, explain how people choose the abilities they use, like Fighting, Acting, Defending, item, and Sparing, and Magic

  • Oh, OK! So the way you select Is by hovering over them with the arrow keys, however I know a bit about Gimkit, mainly from this post. to know you cant do that sadly. so instead you will be clicking buttons here to mimic it.

Thanks you did a really good job there!

Why thanks! can I talk about how cool glasses are next?

Ralsei, I cant go off topic, lets just focus on the guide.

Anyways, now make it so that when pressing a button It brodcasts on “[First Letter of character name] [Ability Chosen]” so for example, Kris Defending would be “K Defend” and Ralsei using magic would be-

  • “R Magic”! I’m getting quite good at this!

and Susie Fighting would be “S Fight” Note that acting is just “Act” and Spare is just “Spare” this is because they do the same thing for all the characters or can only be used by one character.

  • I saw you mention TP, is there any way we can make it work in gimkit?

Why yes, we cant make it so if you Dodge near an attack It goes up, but we can make it go up when defending.

  • How do you know this much about how battles work? You must be a natural!

Oh I just have some basic knowledge, thats all.

Now, once you set up the last character’s actions, Susie. make them wire to a trigger and trigger that trigger. make it so that trigger when triggered brodcasts on “teleport to dodge” you know what that means

  • Dodging attacks! Hooray!

Yep! So make a big box room of happiness (/j) that looks like this

CODE IS INALID!

why did you have to say that?

so we don’t get a false flag.

anyways ignore the lasers, those are attacks that you can set up yourself :D

anyways make a trigger that is triggered on “teleport to dodge” and make it a delay of 10 seconds, and make it so that when its triggered it brodcasts on “Teleport back to make decision” this teleports us back! Hooray!

  • Phew! this seems like a lot of work. I’d recommend to you, the reader, to test all of this out to make sure this works so far.

Ill wait for you here until you go do that.

Back? ok, lets start getting this wrapped up.

Go ahead and make 4 Number Properties

“KrisHP” “RalseiHP” “SusieHP” and “EnemyHP”

Kris should have 90 HP by default

Ralsei gets 60 HP by default

and Susie will be 120.

Got that done? Great! now lets get into the actions!

ok so upon clicking the Act button, you will be teleported to another area with 2 buttons, for this example this battle is based on the dummy that Ralsei made, so one of the acts is Hug, which makes the enemy able to be spared, and the other is hugging ralsei, it doesn’t do much except if your going for story doing it over and over will have ralsei admit he hasn’t had a hug before.

  • Ok, now I’m starting to get suspicious of how much of this knowledge you hold.

Fair, but next. make another property, this time being a boolean called “Acted?” remember the Hug act we made earlier, make it so when its clicked, it brodcasts on “Able to be spared” then make a trigger with block code that triggers when recieving on “Able to be spared” and sets the “Acted?” boolean to true. by default the “Acted?” property is false. next make another trigger with block code (able to be replaced with a checker if you decided to make “Acted?” a number property instead) which brodcasts on “Battle End” if “Acted?” is true.

  • Most of the time, the peaceful solution to a battle is the best solution.

Well, ralsei you may not like this next part.

  • Why?

Because now we have to make the fighting ability

to make the fighting ability work, you will need 3 triggers that subtract the “EnemyHP” property by a different number, each of them triggers when receiving on the Fight channel for the character that trigger is for. so for example a trigger that deals 120 damage to the enemy, would be for Susie, and one that deals 40 would be for ralsei

  • when ever I do attack, I don’t try to hurt my opponent as I don’t support violence,

while a trigger doing 75 would be Kris.

got that all done? Sweet :D now lets get onto defending, as we need to set up TP, before we can setup the magic abilities. First, Make a property called “TensionPoints” that is a number property and by default is 0. now make another trigger with block code ( your memory is not going to like this Turn Based Encounter System folks, sorry in advance  )

what this will do is make it so that it will up the TensionPoints property by 25, now since multiple characters can defend we will have to wire all the defend buttons to this trigger.

–I have to keep you waiting as I have to go to a class where I cant use my computer ahh—

This was originally part of the Undertale/Deltarune wiki and then we had to split them up because we ran into the character limit.

Ik but he (or she) we’re referring to this guide, not the undertake one (I’m pretty sure)

sorry about that  , I may have went a little too in depth.
I edited this guide just now! [1]

:nerd:  Now that you’re a regular you need to be a role model. “Preppy” is not a word a role model says.

I just realized the separation of Undertale and Deltarune Tugs, is actually the first time you made an update to the Undertale Tug that wasn’t on a friday

wait, would it be ok if I just do the entirety of the enemies section? or atleast encountering enemies (If you cant tell, the Turn Based Encounter system gave me enough trouble. I don’t want to lose braincells trying to make bosses.)

@AnnexthePacific please don’t check the box for fun, we use it to tell if someone is editing that way we don’t override someones edits.

oh and if anyone is reading this, can you give me a review on the Turn Based Encounter Section (I desperately want to make sure this is easy to understand, especially for people who are still not too into Gimkit creative)

@Fleet my bad wont happen again

currently testing with save codes, if I want to teach people how to do that here lol.

idk if I’ll make it a seperate guide or just have it be here (with permission of course)

I would suggest linking the Undertale guide to this one, and vice versa, as it would make going between both easier

I’m okay with it.

I’m supposed to be on vacation ._. WHY IS EVERYONE COMMENTING ON MY GUIDES WHILE I’M ON BREAK BUT IGNORE ME WHEN I’M ACTUALLY HERE
respectfully ofc
