The Optimal Way To Search Devices in Gimkit Creative

When creating a game in Gimkit Creative, sometimes you just don’t have time to manually type out S… P… A… W… N… [Space]… P… A… D…. So that you don’t have to, I figured out the most optimal way to look up devices! Some of these may not be intuitive (for example: A for Ball). That is because sometimes the letter(s) is/are not at the start of the device name, but instead are in the middle.

This is sorted by number of letters to type. In the 1 letter section, devices are sorted by alphabetical order of device name, and in the 2+ letter section, devices are sorted by order in the Add menu.[1] If a device can be found with, for example, a 1 letter string and a 2 letter string, only the shortest strings will be shown.

1 letter

Ball: A/B/L

Barrier: I

Camera View: V

Checker: C/H/K

Damager: D/M

Flag: F/G

Popup: P/U

Questioner: Q

Relay: R/Y

Respawn: W

Sentry: S

Text: E/T/X

Zone: N/O/Z

2+ letters

Button: BU

Counter: CO

Trigger: GG

Dialogue: DI

End Game: GA

Property: PR

Repeater[2]: EP

Tag Zone: TA

Waypoint: WA

Character: HA

Lifecycle: LI

Spawn Pad: N [space]

Checkpoint: KP

Item Image: IT

Laser Beam: AS

Teleporter: OR

Camera Point: A [space] P[3]

Custom Shape: CU

Damage Boost: E [space]

Game Overlay: [space] O

Item Granter: GR

Item Spawner: SP

Notification: NO

Team Switcher: SW

Wire Repeater: IR

Crafting Table: CR

Health Granter: LT

Movement Meter: MO

Speed Modifier: EE

Crafting Recipe: CI

Dialogue Action: [space] A

Vending Machine: HI

Knockout Manager: KN

Ball Capture Zone: PT

Flag Capture Zone: G [space] C[4]

End Of Game Widget: ID

Laser Beam Manager: M [space] M

Player Coordinates: PL

Starting Inventory: NV

Popup Call To Action: O [space] A

Inventory Item Manager: Y [space] I

That’s all! Some of these aren’t intuitive, but I tried to make most of them as intuitive as possible. Many of the 2+ section are just the first two letters in the device name, but because of how Gimkit prioritizes certain devices in the search bar, some of the 2+ devices weren’t as easy.

I hope this guide helps you in your Gimkit Creative journey!

  1. I didn’t want to have to alphabetize all of those devices, okay? ↩︎

  2. Why are you using a repeater >:( ↩︎

  3. This one can’t be done in 2 characters. ↩︎

  4. This one also can’t be done in 2 characters. ↩︎

Ok… I guess someone could use this but wouldn’t it be more work getting out of your tab every single time you want to add something and look through this guide? And what if I already have the devices and I could just copy them?

Other than that great grammar, organization, intro, and outro.

This is an ok guide.

Still pondering over the fact that it is this on-topic or off-topic.
However, great grammar, spelling formatting, and helpfulness

It’ll actually save you alot of time since there are not that many devices not quickest with first few letters that one would constantly use(i just counted, there’s 4 only)
Also..

The moment i saw this i read the whole thing again, i did not see a single spelling mistake

If someone could memorize this, then this would be an extremely useful guide. However, I feel like it’s just easier to type out the name of the device anyways. I still find this guide quite novel, though, so good job on that.

defiantly not the most useful guide, but very well made 7.5/10
(whenever I forget the name of the device I need this will be a good resource

This is a alright guide thanks for figuring out what devices short key names are! Overall though this isn’t the most useful considering half of the time you only have to type 4 letters instead of 2 so this really is more for if someone was speeding to make a game. In the end i’d give this guide a 7/10 overall, and a 5/10 for usefulness.

Oh, I thought this was allowed because someone else did this to a friend of mine…I’ll delete the post.
I’d never try to make someone feel as if their guide is terrible. I’m very sorry.

This is a good guide, but I am a little confused about why this works.

@Gimkit_Lover each individual device has a certain letter or pair of letters that are unique to them. This guide shows us these unique algorithms to help us be able to just type the specific letters and quickly find the device we need.

Some people are saying it’s not very helpful, because what’s the point of continually switching tabs to search for a device.

I say it could be pretty helpful, if you end up somewhat memorizing it. (Espescially for the devices you use the most.)

There’s a bit more to it as well.

It seems Gimkit prioritizes certain devices when searching; for example, when searching the letter ‘a’, Gimkit starts at the top of its list, which is ‘Ball’. Since Ball has an ‘a’ in it, that is the top device. If you were to search ‘c’, then Gimkit would go down its list until it finds a device with the letter c with it, which in this case would be the Checker.

How do people figure out these things? Also nice guide! Although maybe you could try enter after each one. I don’t know I just found it hard to keep track.

Something like:

Ball: A/B/L

Barrier: I

would help me. Just a suggestion.

For the single letters, I tried each single letter and figured out what worked, and for the 2+ letters, I entered combinations of letters that were in the device’s name to see what would work.

Okay, I’ll do that.
