how about making the map tinted a little darker to give the effect of gloom get some wood and change the tint of that area to darker get some dead trees near the place stone pillars to give depth and should add to it being scary/gloomy

Are you aiming for an architectural style like this:

OR this…

Maybe you can add some vines, and turn some stuff from white to slightly grey white, and darker white, cracks, spider webs, a pool but its dried up, a hedge overgrown, a tennis field play area thingy with the net ripped …

Inside could have a ominous vibe, having poorly lit areas making it a struggle to see. Lights flicker every so often, arcade machines tipped over, and one still on but flickering too. You could have glass shelves smashed with debris on the ground.

You could also add a chandelier with massive amounts of cobwebs, barely emitting light to add more to the dark vibe. Doors open, with rooms with tipped over shelves and bookshelves scattered on the ground, books everywhere. Some pages can be ripped out.

Next could be the kitchen, with moldy food, dusty grounds, and anywhere you touch on the marble countertops leave a trace of dust on your fingers. The stove is old, as if food was burned on it. The sink, filled with plates, with rats still scavaging the room. Checking the pantry, you see it low on food, and shelves in there barely staying up.

But yeah, even more ideas I could come up with for the inside. And outside.

Heres more outside.

Outside could be able to have thunder, example, maybe you can do it by having lots of vending machines buy at once making a thunderous noise, you could even make a white barrier. Might have to add a epilepsy warning though. Cracked steps, falling bricks and roof tiles, and dimly light lanterns as if someone was there.

What’s the genre of your game though? Ex: Horror, meant to scare the player, or just a storyline of just trying to escape a mansion, and kind of a puzzle game.

Yeah, add flickering in some rooms, also don’t forget to add a epilepsy warning as you j0in it. I promise you like every game that has that always is a bit ominous and scary lol.

Another idea…

Add LOREEEE

(J0in is blocked, just learned that.)

Could even add multiple endings and a fully fledged story line that requires you to connect the dots, giving players a storyline to grip to as they go on, unveiling more parts of the story the farther you get into it. You can even make them have to fill in the blanks as they go around the map and read papers on the ground from that grand library idea I was talking about.

yeah thats the plan
I was also thinking of a single and multiplayer game mode

I think just make it so nothing changes in single and multi player.

Add cutscenes maybe? Apollo did that on his gim jumper. No Idea how he did it, but that would be cool, like you hear noises coming from the plank ceiling, and then it crashes down with like dust entering the room, as it clears, you see a monster and now you gotta run.
