Show me your 3D terrain/Layered Art!

Please select a solution. This is getting off-topic and too out of hand.

That would be really cool if gimkit was 3d, but probably hard

Before you showed up, we were perfectly on-topic. Maybe you should try not to move the conversation from it’s original purpose.

Definitely on-topic.

Actually, it was still at least going SOMEWHAT in the right direction.

Off topic alert! Initiating preventative measures!
What are a some strategies you use to make art look 3d in GKC??
(Sorry @NavyCatZ)

Definitely layering, which is a very cool topic.

Thank you for following the rules and bringing this back on-topic. I appreciate you.

If you make a prop black and have a light transparency, it will look like shade

Isn’t that the same as coloring the prop light gray?

If you color a prop though, some of the details on it will show. If you make it black none of the details will show, then you can make it transparent for the shading effect.

How do you add a 3D effect, like the moon picture that you drew?

Multiple barriers of different shades overlapped using opacity, I would assume.

I didn’t use opacity, but I just overlapped two barriers of different shades

Eh, well, opacity is pre-set to 0.8 or something anyways.

Yep. Hey, we could use barriers with different opacities in different patterns layered on top of each other for even more detail.

That sounds nice. Another thing @Kyro actually suggested is for props in shadows to be tinted gray, which looks pretty nice!

All 3d art on paper is a lie. It’s an illusion.

So then technically 3d on a screen of flat pixels is also an illusion by the same logic…

Exactly! There is no such thing as 3d, everything is 2d, unless it is actually 3d. Like my chromebook I am using to write this reply, it’s 3d. Your pfp looks like it’s 3d but it’s actually a 2d duo with an infinity gauntlet from Roblox.
