Role Selector (Without Season Ticket) Rating 🟨

This is how to make a role selector in gimkit WITHOUT the season ticket!
(i know, its crazy)
So here we go!

Step one

Take a zone. The channel on the zone is “role”.
Place the zone wherever the player or players start, so they immediately get the trigger right when they load in.

Step two

Grab a popup. This is what will be in the gam to select the role of the player. This popup should not be able to close!
The popup header text should be “Choose your role!”
make the popup open on the channel “role”

we will go back to this popup later.

Test it out so far! See how it is

wait dont do that it’ll lock you out of the game

Step three

Take another popup make it open on the channel “role 2”
It should be the same as the first but the open channel

Step four

Go back up to the original popup, and go to the call to action section.
This is where the season ticket comes in.
But this guide is for NON SEASON TICKETERS ONLY :index_pointing_at_the_viewer:
so we WILL NOT USE SEASON TICKET IN HERE!
Do these channels. This will make one selectable role, which is the “role #1” thing i put there.
if you are actually doing this, choose a role of yours and put it in the slot that says role #1for the NAME of the call to action

Step five

Take the other popup. It should activate when you click the button “next” right?
gimme a sec to try it
.
.
.
yeah it works
So do the same thing as the first popup, but tweaked a little bit

this will make it so that the other role will activate when you click the “role #2” button, but if you click the back button, it will repeat and go to the first popup!

or at least i think

Step six

This step closes the popup when you click one of the role buttons.
Take 2 triggers.
Place them down and do this to the first.

do this to the second.

Step seven(LAST STEP)

Go into both popups and make sure that they both are not closable.
Then make them close on the channel “close”

  • tweak the guide a little to make more than 2 pages to select roles!
Summary

This guide helps you with making a role selector that flips between pages that isn’t random, but you choose the role!

This is a really good guide, just refine the title as it is really long and has a spelling error.

Just paste this title:

Role Selector (Without Season Ticket)

Overall, nice guide!

Question: Instead of the zone on top of the spawn pad, couldn’t you just use a lifecycle? The lifecycle requires 1/4 of the memory, and it does the exact same thing. Just make it track “Game Start”, and have it broadcast on “role” when the event occurs.

True, but when i tried it it only worked for the HOST, and roleplay games usually dont have only one person

It only worked for the host? Interesting, the lifecycle should work for everyone…

The “on game start” setting for the lifecycle broadcasts as the host by default. To fix this, you could have the lifecycle broadcast to a relay set to relay as all players, and then have that open the pop-up. However, if you wanted to do that you’d have to make sure you have a lifecycle set to broadcast as players that joln late as well, so players that come after the game has started can still select a role.

In the guide, both triggers are entirely unnecessary. You could just set the first popup to close when receiving on role #1, and the second to close when receiving on role #2.
The pictures help, but in a couple of them the name of the top setting is cut off. To fix this, you can either go into Fullscreen or zoom out before retaking the screenshot.

Otherwise, the guide is fine and could be quite useful even if you do have the season ticket. Having a popup for each individual role is nice when you want to provide a detailed description before players actually select their role..
