Im making a top-down game with mini-maps called “zones”, and without decor they are plain and boring, so I need your help for decor ideas for my game! Feel free to credit your ideas!
If your wondering, these are the zone names:
Evergreen Forest - A pure green forest guarded by the Guardian Fay.
Permafrost Icelands - A frosted iceland enhabited by many lost Gims.
Inferno Isles - An island surrounded by boiling water, and in the middle of the island is the Volcano of Conflagration.
Aqua Seasides - An ocean that is said to lead to the place in Fishtopia.
Summit Highlands - A highlands surrounded by big mountains that are tedious to climb. Legend says there is something at the top of the highlands that lead to the beginning of Gims.
Send Pictures/References if possible!
For the inferno isles, you could have some 3D terrain islands in the middle of an ocean with the biggest island having a large volcano that randomly spews lava. I would try to make a reference, but I don’t have a personal computer and I’m using an IPad right now.
port town: a town near a bay that has a large pirate influence, an inn nearby is a place that the adventurers can gain clues and trade with villagers. But in such a dangerous place they can also make enemy’s, introducing The Scurvy Parrots!! a hostile group of pirates that have a infamous reputation of blundering and pillaging. (I know that blundering is messing up or being clumsy, just know that they aren’t the ripest oranges of the bunch) (what about the location is Aqua Seasides the decor is just an entire town)
My idea is kind of confusing I get it but what I am trying to aim for is a level, to help people progress like a starting town and with the source material I think that those “zones” are maps in themselves so this port town is a new “zone” it is also a place to insert lore like, why are they going through these levels?
Great zone names! For creative inspiration, I recommend checking out Tuesday Inspirational Quotes — they help spark fresh ideas. Maybe try adding glowing mushrooms to the forest or lava cracks in Inferno Isles. Keep it up!
for inferno Isles, assuming that it has water areas (bc of the “isle” part of the name), use colored water/semi-transparent barriers to make it feel “polluted” by the volcano (assuming there is one)
