Ideas for hiding secret bosses

I need ideas to hide secret bosses, whether it is via a puzzle, or other things, I just need ideas.

A boss rush that is WAYYY too long

My ideas:

  • Time-based events that could open a certain path which leads to the secret Boss
  • Hidden areas in the wall (floor terrain or collision-off barriers)
  • Items that could summon this secret Boss in a specific place

I like that time one, getting to a certain boss would require you to speedrun the rest of the game.

maybe there is a secret little tablet on a table and you type a specific code given by creator or hints in the game and then you fight a Virus boss

Perhaps you can make a thing where it teleports you random when people can’t see it, like NotYoyo said, but other things you can do is make it to where after you do a certain task, it can/can’t make it pop up.

I’ve got an idea for a puzzle one, though i’m thinking of making it a rework to the method used to get to a different secret boss

You could also make a gate where you have to enter a 4-digit code to get in and fight with the Boss, the codes were scattered around the map.

A gate to get in seems like a good idea… But now i need ideas to hide the code hints-

Hmm
The player could get one after defeated the Final Boss, which requires the player to replay the game so they could fight the secret boss.
You can also hide the codes in an important structure (relics, ruins, palace, forest, for example).

Hiding in landmarks is one i’ll def do, already have a boss that requires you to beat the entire game and then go back to 1 specific point tho.

Here are my suggestions, I hope you will find them useful and entertaining.

Ideas -

Back Track

After reaching a certain point in the story, a path previously unopened will become open and reveal a room with a boss.

2nd chance

Similar to the game hollow knight after beating the boss, you can find a different room near the boss fight where you can fight a stronger version of the boss

Maze

You can make a maze hiding the boss, add simple clues or trails. (ex: a trail of books or a gim telling you to always take 2 straights and a left

Summon

Throughout the adventure the player can find keys randomly placed, after finding all of them they’ll get a notification telling them to go to a place. Upon getting there you can place the keys to summon the boss

Defeat the 3rd bosses minions and you unlock a hydra boss.

The backrooms but In gimkit and the boss is you trying to escape. the rooms is the boss

Have it that when you don’t end a certain bosses life in 5 minutes or 10, have it trigger a secret phase

add a secret cave or smthing in the map, then add another secret inside the cave. when secret triggered, teleport player to boss or smthing
