How to make a good lobby

There are a incredible amount of guides on this. This guide was not needed. But as usual the forum gives no credit to others when making a guide that is so much like its predecessor.

Oh yeah, the new user thing.

Maybe it can be more in-depth though.

Nnononononon bad idea, I think my thing is already too long. It’s a much better idea to give new users a small amount of info, and slowly ease them in over time.

one issue with that, the word “giant” literally detures anyone from reading it. Especially new users who don’t really care to even read the FAQ.

For blackhole; Yeah, I do agree with that. Too much info. Maybe I can make sections, but for now, I’ll put that on hold.

For WolfTechnology; as soon as I see giant paragraphs, I zone out instantly, like what I think is it’s BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOORING maybe bullet points can solve it. I like to gather information like that.

(Will be on for like 3 more mins, me go

Also I’m going to point out that I was given zero info to go off of when I first joined (and clearly, I’m doing fine), so I don’t see why we need to inform new users to such a high degree immediately. Also, I only read the FAQ and TOS for the first time a month ago haha, so I don’t know why we need to make new users read it.

yeah what i would do is make a pinned post that give the basics like what off-topic means and flagging issues, etc. And have it closed but still listed so new users click on it out of curiousity.

The new users need to read it because they got no common sense.

Closed like in, no replies allowed? (For wolf)

For blackhole, same. I wasn’t given too much info, besides from Haiasi that one time and I think i’m doing alright. But sometimes, education is great.

But some users have common sense, I think the new user population is doing good But a decent amount don’t really care about rules.

(What happened to your PFP, it’s gone for me magenta, lol.)

Tell them this then:

This forum is for gimkit creative only. Please don’t showcase your maps. Use common sense, and don’t say anything you wouldn’t say to your school principal. Welcome to the forums!

IN FACT- I think that there is a post from jeff that appears to new users that, in my opinion, explains everything that a new user really needs to know.

real

to believe that paragraph used to be 1 sentence long, back in, say, august

Perfect couldn’t have said it better myself.

Love it, all the ideas. I’ll start working on the codex tomorrow, gathering all of y’all’s ideas to fuse it into one nice guideline thingy.

And also we need to stop the copy and paste welcomes, I agree magenta. Have one unique for every single user. And if your gonna do that, also help solve the help topic because usually they do help topics.
