How to (Actually) make a good gimkit game

Intro

Hello fellow children, today I am going to tell you how to get your gimkit game more plays with these simple steps!

Game Thumbnails

First off, your going to need a good thumbnail, people often post random pics for their thumbnail or a picture of gimkit creative. Your not going to wanna do that, make sure your thumbnail has the game name, and the creators name, (also the thumbnail makers name if you didn’t make it yourself.) also make sure you don’t steal other peoples thumbnails. EX of good thumbnail:

Original game ideas.

You also want to make sure your ideas are original (mostly) It’s always good to come up with an original game idea, this way your game can get more views cause its not a copy of a random game for example, “Don’t wake up mum at 3AM cause you didn’t do the laundry while washing the dishes and taking out the trash.”
That’s an example of a remake. (Credit to @Penguin_eats_turtle for the idea)

Game Description

Next, you need to make sure you have a good description that’s related to your game, make sure it states what the game is about and the objective of the game, nothing too long, and nothing too short.

Game Title

Also, you need to make sure your game has a good title, for example: If your game is a escape room, something like “The Room of despair.” Make sure its original!

Advertising

Another important thing is that you want to make sure your advertising your map, your map most likely won’t get much views unless its on “Grab bags” then gets on trending. You can advertise on the wix, or on your forum profile. You can also get help from your friends to advertise for you. This is very important because Literlly most of the times, you see these maps made by 8 year olds that took 1 hour to make and their name is “skibidi skibidi” with a brainrot thumbnail :sob: Here is how to get the link to your gimkit map: First go to settings.

Now go to “Publish”

Now look at “Public link” then hit “Copy link”

Extras

Here are some things to make your game vewy intewsting, hehehe.
Lores: Lores are kinda like stories, they make your game interesting and require some “Brain power” For the player to figure out.

Decorations: You wanna make sure your game is flashy :sparkles: Make sure you add props and decor to your game, this way it adds some sparkle when people play your game. But make sure you don’t just spam random things everywhere and call it “Your game” It makes it messy, random, and un-flashy when you do that. If you make it un-flashy I will burn you!

Interactions: Similar to a lore you wanna have “Interactions” I call them “Tasks” Or “Quests” it makes the game fun and challenging for the player!

Gameplay

Now it’s time for the gameplay! For the gameplay, you want to make sure you put effort into your game, make sure it isn’t messy and test it before publishing to make sure there aren’t any bugs/glitches, You can also bring friends to help you test it and make sure its possible! I’m talking from experience :sob:
A good gimkit game also has a pre-game lobby, nothing too fancy, just some props and items. Here is an example of a simple Pre-Game Lobby:

You can also go to the gimkit wix to find people to help you with your games, don’t forget to credit them!

Conclusion

Well, that’s all for this guide! Let me know if I missed anything!

I’d add some pictures of the tips, and also format this into dropdowns.

Otherwise this is pretty generic.

Pictures, okay I can do that! What are dropdowns tho?

This is a dropdown

This is text inside of a dropdown.

That is not an original name. You took DLD, an already existing name and then just added “the ultimate” on it. If you want an original name, just take what makes your map special, and use a thesaurus to make a good name.

Ahh, my bad. Thanks for the suggestion.

What about adding something like “interactions” which is where the player has to do something. They are really important to a game

Nice guide! Maybe say something in the guide advising against remaking games that have been remade many times before e.g. DLD, FnaF, Knockback or some random escape mum at 3am because you didn’t do the laundry whilst eating dinner and showering (there are way to many of that style of game :sob:).

Also what’s with the: Make sure you don’t steal people’s thumbnails, and then you post a thumbnail which you haven’t asked permission for to use in your guide. That’s stealing too. It’s not exactly “being a good role model”.

I do have a suggestion. Maybe put adding lore in there. It always just makes the game a bit better.

Also, you should add the suggestion to put work into your game. Don’t let it look like you just slapped some terrain and props everywhere and then called it a game!

I also feel like you could add a suggestion of like how to make decorate or make a game

Nice guide!
You should also add that when you test your game, you want to make sure you can complete the map! (Not just you though sometimes, you can have your friends try out the map to see if they can complete the map!)

EDIT: Okay, I might not be correct but, @Penguin_eats_turtle, I think if the thumbnail was made for him, he should be able to use it.
(because the thumbnail was made for him)

I see where your heading, like tasks or quests?

Okay! I got you!

See? That’s what i’m talking about, I should at least be able to use it for an example.

both are crucial to a game so ya

Edit: WHY ARE THERE 8 FLAGGED MESSAGES?

@Gaming-Phoenix next just like the post instead of creating a new unhelpful one, and if you saw all those flagged posts then you should have also seen the moderator message embedded. Also please stop posting off-topic things, please think before you post.

Also, here’s another good tip that you should add. You know how in every official Gimkit game mode, there’s like a lobby? Add those so that before the game you just start in the game so they can just learn all of your secrets. And also in that lobby, add some rules and directions on how to play your game, so people actually play the game instead of wandering aimlessly. And also, add images to your guide. Please. It really helps.

If you have season ticket, please make the most out of it because I see people with season ticket and they are losing a lot of potential. If your game doesn’t have season ticket features that is fine. The coolest feature in season ticket is npc and dialogue because that can pave way to lore. If you don’t have season ticket (like me :frowning: ) you can sort of replicate dialogue using popups, sentries and buttons.
