I am a bit confused on the question, if you mean textured terrain, you grass, metal, or water. And you may change the look by using layers, to make things look 3D. This is what layered 3D terrain looks like.

no it is possible.
it is just place dirt down on layer 1 and place grass above the dirt on layer 2, it will look like elevated land.
