How can I draw new Gimkit skins for a game thumbnail?

I want to learn to draw my own Gimkit skins for game thumbnails. Any tips on how I can do that? I already know about the empty skin template.

I have a recommendation:
If the template is transparent, you can put it in Kleki and it will automatically outline it for you. I use it a lot!
