Introduction
Hi! you may be wondering “Why is fleet making an art guide, I thought he was a technical person” while yes I do LOVE the technical side of GKC, I also LOVE making art. so here I am doing something different, hope ya like it
Disclaimer:
this guide contains: Silliness, a whole bunch of shenanigans, and me :D
Tips
Use Camera Views
While yes, they don’t appear to work pre-game, they do! they just don’t work in GKC’s pre-game state.
GKC pre-game camera view:
Gimkit published map/showcase link camera view:
you can see the difference, yet they are in the same map, no editing done.
Think outside the box!
Usually, people make their lobby a box, but I beg of you, DONT DO THIS! please make it look more natural instead of a boxed room perhaps make it a castle area you can explore, or something else. for example this is taken from my map
notice the fact that while it still is technically a box, it looks natural and intreging to the viewer and makes them want to play the game.
LAYER YOUR TERRAIN
Layer your terrain in your lobby, ESPECCIALLY if you are going for isometric styled terrain. if you don’t do this I will personally find your computer, and do it for you, thank me later (/j)[1]
Take things from your game
In your lobby, you should make references to things you encounter in your map! otherwise, how will your players get a feel for what the map is going to actually be like?
Make the lighting cool!
if you somehow don’t know how to do this, place a barrier on top of your lobby with no collision, and tint it to be the lighting you’d like! make sure the tint isn’t to bright as it might make someone’s eyes hurt. (/j) [2], lighting can be used to make it look like sunset, sunrise, or midnight.
Take inspiration
Taking inspiration[3] from things you enjoy and putting them in your lobby is just a cool thing, and is a cool way to add Secrets to your lobby
Conclusion
In conclusion, I hope this helps you make pretty good lobbies, I’ll add some more things later if I feel like it :P
