It’s a real-invisible laser. I know some of you already know but this is for people who don’t.

Get a laser and set it black, a straight black color, then hit play, I just figured this out!

How can I get a straight black laser?

Answer, you can’t. It’s not possible yet, soon it will. But a loophole is to make it just a little bit not black, that should work.

Does it work for white lasers the same way?

No, it’s just straight-up white. This is weird because that means straight-up black, should be black now clear its kinda confusing

Here is something for you all to think about:

The best way to learn something is to figure it out yourself. It’s not the fastest way of learning, but it ends in the least confusion. As much as these forums are for help, when it comes to simple problems, I would advise that rather than simply telling the answer, we guide the poster towards finding the solution themselves.

When someone figures out how to do something on their own they get to experiment and learn about how all the mechanics of whatever system they are making work. I’m sure plenty of people of here have followed guides and gone “What the heck is happening here?”

Point is, it’s better to, for simple things, guide people towards finding the solution to their own problem rather than just telling them. Especially for simpler things, like trying to reset a counter, it’s better to go “Have you tried checking the options of it?” or “What if you wired a trigger to it?” rather than just telling them.

To conclude this, here is something my math teacher said:
“When you simply type something into a calculator, you forget the math that is actually happening. Your brain doesnt even think about what is going on, and so when you don’t have a calculator you don’t know what the heck you’re doing.”

The same thing can be applied to gimkit. Teaching and guiding is better than telling.

Adding on (Yes this is very hypocritical of me): Help doesn’t mean giving people the answers but leading them in the right direction. So what we really should be doing in the forums is just giving hints towards the answer and not just giving them the answer. I hope this change might be made one day.

My guide about putting a property on an overlay was flagged (I edited it to reinstate it), and this has even less content and still remains unflagged. I guess people don’t care about content and only care about space it takes on a screen.

How to Make an Overlay Display a Property's Value

I’ve never seen a guide about this topic, and it’s a frequently asked question, so here it is: First, you need your property to broadcast on Update[PROPERTY_NAME_HERE] when the property changes. Next, you need your overlay’s blocks to receive on Update[PROPERTY_NAME_HERE]. Next, add these blocks: [image] That’s it. I guess people just like to flag topics, even if they’re helpful.

Okay, but a problem I realized a long time ago is that adding an example is like using the words “really”, “like”, or “very” to prolong the length of an essay to meet a word count. At its core, it’s still the same thing, but just artificially longer. It still teaches the same thing, and putting an example really won’t prolong it that much. Yes, examples are very important for teaching, but I feel like in this case, the guide’s still going to be really short with one.

If you want to hide the laser end points, there’s an option for that.
It doesn’t turn off the end points’ collision though, which can get annoying.
