Creating Platformer Jumps with Math

good point
idk how to find game units tho

although this method is just for approximation, minor testing can easily adjust the real tile placement

coyote jumps are a way of jumping on the edge of an object’s hitbox, which would increase the speed of the gim.

Nice W guide @Pika_Pokemon also you returned

tbh, coyote time and coyote jumps are very similar.

im just saying, without the use of coyote jumps (or coyote time if you want to view it as that) would result in an approx 5 tile max jumping height

the height loss is somewhere between 0 and 1 tiles i think

Just giving the forums a second chance

Twhy is it so laggy

uhhh, the pic at the very end?
the poorly made gim that is hardly recognizable?

@eiqcrmeliutgwhc i have a question
the function’s domain interval is from -1 to 1
but the input value is -2.5 and 4.5
how would that work?

do you have the answer key?
is q12’s answer 2 x sqroot(5) to 4?

also in my guide im not trying to flex math. im just showing ppl how math can be useful in gimkit

i like to use sqrt not sqroot, cause I use scratch a lot

math is useful everywhere

especially for loot tables, you gotta do inequalities to solve them!

(I like physics in games like Roblox, it’s really cool sometimes!)

i REALLY dislike when people say this which im assuming is just because it seems “complicated” for some people or because it includes math (which is oh so dreadful!!) like yeah, it is useful for jump height/distance approximations in gimkit games, especially difficult platformer maps where you have tight jumps. it reminds me of the people in math class who say “when are we ever going to use this” and sure, not everybody has to use math which also goes for like literally anything else, but whenever i think about that question at 2am i think of what im actually doing when im doing math, math for me is about making connections and asking questions continuing from another topic which is why i perform decent at it, because im actively encouraging my thought process for it. please dont ask these types of questions from a hind sight; you read the title, and even if you still have that question think about it for a while which is what learning is about, or rephrase it in a way where it doesnt seem like youre being ignorant towards the spirit and the reason why this topic was made, im not trying to be rude but it feels discouraging if you spent a lot of effort on a guide and someone replies with “do we really need this tho?” when theres many other questions you could ask that could actually benefit your understanding. /nm

me in math class:

“When the heck will I ever use a inequality? This is so useless. When will I ever use these physics in these games? This is so pointless.”

Inequalities: Used in my chest system.

Physics: fun to use in Roblox games

just become something seems super complicated doesn’t mean it’s dirt to the ground useless. This is pretty cool math, and as kyro said, helps to approximate jumps in platformer.

I didn’t make “how to make a cat in gimkit” just didn’t.

KYRO! STOP IT. I READ THE WHOLE THING ITS A JOKE WONT YOU UNDERSTAND. I do good at math

just saying, THIS IS A JOKE CAN YOU STOP TELLING ME THAT IM A S12345 F87878 GUYS I DONT WANT TO QUIT GIMKIT. THANKS :anger:

at this point your colling out people for no reason arent you
