Copyright Issues

I’m having a copyright concern. I’ve created a series of games in my Gimkit Creative series called Medieval Madness, which includes Medieval Madness 1 HD, Medieval Madness 2, and Medieval Madness 3. The first two appear normally, but Medieval Madness 3 is not showing up in Creative.

At the same time, I noticed that another creator has a summit called Medieval Madness in their game Don’t Look Down 2. I’m not sure if this is related, or how I should handle it. I don’t want the other creator to be banned, but I do think a warning or clarification could help.

For context, if you’d like to see the type of games I’ve made, you can find some of mine in Discovery Creative by searching PH.

More importantly, I think it would be useful if Gimkit had clearer rules around copyright and naming, so ideas—especially common game names—don’t end up overlapping or causing confusion.

I doubt another map maker would copyright strike you or anything… I don’t think that’s possible anyways.

Give It some time. It takes a bit to upload. It needs to be approved, I think.

If you’re that concerned, maybe rename it. “Medieval Madness, Trilogy [3]” or something, I guess.

It isn’t a big deal if you have a similar map to someone else
(Unless it’s a carbon copy)

Wait a little while more, some maps take longer to show up

Copyright is silly in this situation its a non funded discovery game
you can use the name all you want
the only thing you should be worried about is originality

Reading through this, since neither of you own “Medieval Madness” this shouldn’t be a copyright issue.

Exactly, its simply a name. Plus I do not think someone would go out of their way going to court to own a silly phrase like “Medieval Madness”
Its freedom of choice and artistic expression, The only concerns like said earlier is if you copied the exact “Medieval Madness” from that game, and the lack of originality it may cause when there is 2 games with the same name for levels

Y’know, this does bring up a valid question.

Are there copyright strikes in GKC, and could Team Gimkit themselves get a copyright strike for maps WE CREATE?

Well…Yes and No
Depending on the case, since Gimkit ain’t earning money from the games we have rights to pretty much make what we want BUT in some ways they could get in trouble if some company does not like that their game is being remade

its complicated

oh, okay. Well, that could be… a tad… dangerous

So does that mean I won’t get sued and fined from a copyright strike if I stole some characters from a game? (this is theoretical)

Trust me when I say most of the games ain’t gonna give a hell about our creations as they are simply as close as we can to a fun remake of the game in Gimkits limits

Plus most of those company’s do not even know we exist most likely

phew… well, that’s not thaaaat reasurring, but it makes me feel a little better.

lemme dum it down a little bit

Fun game + no money earned from Fun game = No Copyright
BUT
Fun game + Company that preferably do not want their characters being used = Kind reminder to take it down

its only if were trying to like take full ownership over something that ain’t ours

copyright wouldn’t be an issue
if you’re worried about copyright things, or just want to take a look at the copyright guidelines

overall, your description either has a flagged word, or it just hasn’t been approved yet

doubling down on what phoenix said, it will only matter if it’s related to a company or if someone’s outright taking someone’s idea and saying it’s their own
