Interestingly, when I looked for duplicate guides, there were none, so I present a very important topic, prop use. If you want to make your maps look good, you should consider using props:
Props are meant to add detail to your map and are underused in a lot of circumstances. Props can be used with other props, item images, text, even devices (spawn pad) which can make Interesting Uses for Props. Platformers usually have from a few to as little as zero decorative props because of their interface, so most of the time, these platformers are DLD maps that go for the most basic things. Now, restating the topic, props are extremely important. Flowers are a great place to start because they are simple and in can be implemented into most maps. You can go on farther if you know the theme of your game in which you can select props that might work for your map. Always scroll down to the bottom of the menu, most people probably aren’t even familiar with the “Stadium Ad Base.” Also, look at the “texture” of a prop and see if it looks like anything. It may help you “create” another prop that doesn’t exist. The possibilities are endless. If you’ve used props enough, your wire menu should look like this:
You also shouldn’t overuse props either. I see maps that use the same exact props multiple times, and I can bet you that the 3d printer has been used the most. I’ve also recently learned there was a prop limit of 5000, so don’t reach for the stars and make all terrain a prop (because that would be insane).
Anyways, just keep using props and enjoy making your map!
