I know this is kinda old, but I just learned from someone else’s post (and my personal testing as a form of fact-checking) that Laser Beams cost 250 for the first one and 75 for every subsequent one placed.

I see. There’s a couple of devices that work like that, and it’s reasonable that some of them slipped through.
