Being scared of the dark…
A mini game could be eliminate the sentry’s to keep the light on.
The sentry’s deactivate and appear somewhere random on the board making the game hard.

maybe have a scene with a perspective of a child making their first real friend at a park? it would be a nice and warm moment for the audience, which you can use that perspective to lead into a more in-depth story.
