I’m confused. The first gif is a normal drop-jump, just sliding down.
The second is a drop-jump followed by a slope jump.

In my unprofessional opinion, a checker jump would be a variation of a ladder jump because of the same reason a ladder jump is a variation of an ordinary headhitter. Even though checker jumps aren’t basically the same as a normal headhitter, checker jumps would go in the category of “really obscure and specific” because they are a variation of a variation that isn’t different enough, unlike the reverse extended headhitter. Even though it’s a variation of a variation, it is different enough from the variation it came from that it’s not in the abyss where the diagonal headhitter is.

If anything, it goes under headhitters, not ladder jumps. Ladder jumps work by a section of a gims elliptical hitbox being lodged between two platforms. Checker jumps have nothing to do with that, they work by 45 degree slope physics.
